Root Most Apps stopped Working after Rooting

Sooooo I wanted to be able to WiFI tether and also remove some of the bloatware on my Droid X (Android version 2.3.3 -- System version 4.5.605.MB810.Verizon.en.us).

I followed the steps listed on the One click method for Gingerbread listed on the Droid X Rooting Guide thread. (MotorollaOneClickRoot) and then installed Titanium Backup so I could remove Blockbuster, Skype, and others.

Then I follow the directions on this thread here (I'm too new to link, sorry) 422114-droid-x-free-wifi-tethering-602-605-confirmed-working-9-30-11-a (RadioComm and WiFi tether) and was able to get the WiFi tethering working (Yay!).

Now I have a whole new set of problems. A bunch of my apps that I normally use (Word w/ Friends, CNN, etc) stopped working. They give a "No Network" error. I tried to uninstall and re-install CNN, but found out that my Market doesn't work either. It hangs when I try to download over 3g and while it does download over WiFi ,I then get a "Package is invalid" error. I saw some people posting this may have to do with screen density, so I checked mine with Root Browser but it is set to the proper 240. I then tried to down grade my market by uninstalling updates for it but now it gives a "server error has occurred" error when I try to open it. Any idea on what I could do to get my Market and (more importantly) CNN up and running again?

Well, you could sbf back to stock, root again and not do the update.

And therein lies my problem. The Android Market automatically updates to Google Play Market or whatever is called. I actually did get things working for about 20 min after uninstalling the google Play update and then restarting phone and wiping the Market apps data. But then it automatically updated to google play and it all stopped working again. Keeps saying no network for most of (Angry Birds in Space downloaded fine and plays great ...wierd) the games out there.

I think radioComm has messed something up on your phone rather than rooting your phone. I've never used radioComm but from what I've read, it looks like if something went wrong when you used it, it could cause problems similar to what you describe.

Unless you saved the original codes that you changed in radioComm, the only other remedy is to sbf. Back up what you want in TiBu, sbf, root and then restore through TiBu.

*SQQQUUEEEEEEEE!

:D:D:D Pretty sure I fixed it. I used TiBa to uninstall the Market Updater app. Then I dropped my market back to old style, cleared cache and rebooted. Everything works great so far. :D:D:D

Thanks you guys for your helps :)

suhaas,

Welcome to the AndroidForums! :)

Sorry for your rooting problems...can you tell me if your device is the same as the LG Optimus Net? I'd like to move your post to an area that deals with rooting issues specific to your device.

Let me know and I'll be sure to get you moved.

Thanks,
-SA
