Root most stable rom?

My girlfriend got the triumph about a week ago and shes always complaining about how the battery life sucks, and whenever shes in her car and using gps it never works, so i was wondering what i could do for this? I went ahead and installed clockwork alredy and that was easy, thanks for any advice

Try MTDEV CM7, it's rock stable, battery life is much improved compared with stock ROM. Make sure she turns off wifi when it's not in use, it's the biggest battery drain on the Triumph. Poor network signal (lower than -100dbm) is going to drain the battery really fast as well. If you install a CM ROM, go to Cyanogen settings and lower the minimum frequency to 122 or even 61 MHz if your phone supports it to conserve battery life. If you get random reboots at 61, revert to 122.

MTDEV CM7 is great... works well, and battery lasts a long time as long as WIRELESS and BLUETOOTH are not on all the time... only turn them on when needed.

If you do that, the phone will last 2-3 days on a charge. I plug mine in at night, but with moderate use (a few phone calls) it only goes down about 20-25% charge over the course of the day (15 hrs or so).

^^ This thread has the latest updates.

You'll need to install custom recovery too, so start here:

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...l-things-root-guide-updated-10-01-2012-a.html

Your steps will be:

1) install custom recovery
2) back up your data/apps (if needed). Your contacts and such should be backed up to your gmail acct.
3) Install custom ROM (CM7 from link above)

Just follow the steps in the 2nd link for all of it, do all steps, and you should be fine.

** You WILL NOT need to do any 'root', as the CM7 ROM is already rooted.

PS once they get the camera fixed for CM9, it will probably be the best one out there... watch the forum for this, it looks like they are getting close.

Go with the latest CM7 build from 20121015. Make sure you do a nandroid backup of your stock ROM and keep the backup and the original recovery.img in a safe place in case you need to go back to the stock ROM. You won't be able to activate the phone if it loses activation or to troubleshoot with VM CS using the custom ROMs so you will have to use the nandroid backup go back to stock to do that. Before you do the stock backup, uninstall any apps that you don't absolutely need and wipe the cache and dalvik cache to keep the backup file size small. My first nandroid backup of the stock ROM was 1.1 GB and trust me you don't want that.

Yes definitely backup the stock recovery.img before replacing it, I kept a copy on the MT and my computer. You also download a copy of it, I think it's in the sticky post.

You can also get a recover stock ROM if you need it, it may be easier/more efficient than keeping a backup of your original.

I installed cm7 and wow is it easy to install! i was scared i thought it was gonna be hard, so i was going through it and it seems pretty cool, but i have a few concerns, for example the gallery app, like scrolling through pictures seems laggy, as well as the calculator app? just wondering what that was about

It's going to be a bit laggy for the first 1-2 reboots but it will be really smooth after that. I also have my phone overclocked at 1.21 GHz and it does help.

I have mine set to 1516Mhz with no issues.

You can set this in Settings> CyanogenMod Settings> Performance Settings> CPU Settings

And yes, after a few reboots it settles right down.

You don't need to worry about this anymore as the ROM

Will revert the phone to 100% stock. Just one less thing you need to worry about. If you would like to keep up with all the MTDEV ROM's there is a nice site I made for all our community.

Personally, I had a lot of little problems with CM7. The battery life was not that great for me, contrary to what everyone else has told you. At first, CM7 ran wonderfully. But after a few weeks, many of my apps would crash every time I tried to open them, even after I uninstalled a lot of things. I was also getting duplicate SMS all the time. It got to a point where I had no choice but to get CM7 off my phone. After I switched I no longer had these issues!

I switched to CM9 - it's beautiful and extremely smooth and 100x's better than CM7. I tried it out for about a day but the no camera issue was a big one for me as I use my camera frequently.

So, I then switched over to the next most stable ROM - Miui. There are two available here for the MT, I believe.. I can't remember exact names or version numbers. All I know is mine's the older one, not v.4. If I were to list my favorite ROMs in order of which I like the most, Miui would come in close second to CM9. I actually get great battery life with miui but I know this isn't the case for many people. Best way to keep the battery alive with any ROM is to turn off your wifi, gps, data, bluetooth, etc. and keep these things off as often as possible. If your girlfriend likes to customize the whole look of her phone, including boot animations, wallpapers, lock screens, etc all of these things are available right on miui. I can pull up tons of themes right on my phone without the hassle of needing to go online on my computer and download everything to my phone. It's a really user friendly as well. The themes are super easy to use. MIUI does not have an app drawer, however. It keeps your apps on the home screen more like an iPhone. But I use folders to keep my stuff organized. :)

Shes the type who doesnt care or know about any of that lol, and mtdev cm7 seems a bit laggy, like when playing games or browsing the web, it was smoother on 2.2.2, maybe ill try miui

Check out the U9000 ROM. IMO it's the fastest ROM on this phone with the best battery life and everything works as it should.

The Sharp ROM would be a close second. U9000 and Sharp are very similar except the Sharp ROM uses a customer launcher which consumes more memory and the U9000 uses the stock launcher.

Hey in my personal experience I have had the best results with MIUI.

MIUI ROM

This one is the one I am running. I have installed CM7 from Dev team and that one was great too. But I like the feel of MIUI better. I think it's user preference what to choose.

All in all ever ROM could be the best.

Good Luck!
