Root Most usable ROM?

I've tried out the sense ROM (somewhat buggy) and CMod7 (good, but I don't feel that it would work well day-to-day) and haven't really heard of any other ones yet.

Oh! I was wondering, if I have it flashed to another ROM and took it into Metro, would it be a problem for them to register a new phone number on it?

Thanks in advance. Oh and I'm new to the forum :D

If your phone is Android 2.2 (vice 2.2.1), you can use A-Plus' ROM here

He says he's working on a 2.2.1 version. I have it on my phone and am well pleased with it. There was a slight problem with Gas Buddy not working in the first release, but he has fixed it and put out a new version. I have yet to down load and flash the new version, but that's just due to time.

There are several others as well that seem really good, just look around.

Your choices are: Sense ROM, Red Sense ROM (Same thing but red), Chickeneater ROM, Slide ROM, Aplus ROM & ROM Zero. I have all of them on my memory card and change quite frequently. Think I'm going to stay with CM7 for now though.

What is slide ROM?

What CM7 rom did you try? Reppards newest is ready for primetime imho

The previous CM7 build. The 7.1 looks promising, but, since I'm a noob, I'm not really sure what I'd be losing out with no A2SD support, or how to properly migrate from one rom to the other while losing the least amount of data.

Titanium backup. Acquire this, make a backup, then make a backup of your entire sd card to your pc. Boot to recovery, partition sd, make ext3, wipe all data, flash newer cyanogen, flash darktremor beta 04, reboot, pop open adb shell and run a2sd zipalign and a2sd d2sd, install TiBu again and restore your apps, dont use TiBu to migrate system data between different roms.

CM7.1-Reppard is by far the most stable and functional 2.3.5 based rom. Flash with latest Gapps and if u want apps2sd flash DarkTrems a2sd beta 4 script. no need to flash a kernel one is already included. make sure you have a backup of your stock rom... if you go into a metro store to do anything they wont be able to help you if ur on something else.. Joneidys sense rom may still have the hidden metro and lg menus on it.. but the cm7 builds dont and they would need those menus to change the phone number. either way.. if you go in with a modified phone they prob wont do much for you.. unless the guy behind the counter is flashing phones.. lol

IMHO a backup of the stock rom is not needed. If you were to flash the stock rom back you would still have a rooted phone with a custom recovery, when dealing with metro this is enough for them to void your warranty. Instead I would just suggest to put the phone into emergency mode via joneidys unbrick from LG screen thread and flash the stock rom that way, then it's as if it was fresh out of the box and nobody at metro will have a clue.

There is no need to use emergency mode, upgrade mode works just use the bin from that thread.

yeah just saying.. if you go to metro to change the phone to a diff number.. they arent gonna reboot into recovery or anything.. they are just gonna access the hidden menus and set everything up.. so having a backup of stock can be usefull for that reason.. and then just restore ur backup of the rom you were using to keep ur settings and get a new number on the phone.

It is my understanding they could check for root and void your warranty if found. If you don't have/care about a warranty then by all means.

If you want to keep your warranty a full restore or a complete brick are needed.

Not that EVERY employee in EVERY store will do this, but guys working in a corporate store will just to be dicks...
