Moto 360 Owner Observations. New/potential users check here

While you do that, I'll just sit here and listen to some vintage Chuck Mangione that my phone is now playing. (Forgot that was on there, but i LIKE it :D)

I can't figure it out. My Galaxy S4 does not want to open any other music apps when I click Play Music on my 360. I noticed that my phone doesn't even list other defaulted apps that I've selected to Always open; just Home Launcher and Message App.

I'll try to use OK Google to open Milk Music and see if that works later on.

What happens if you clear defaults for all apps? It can be a bit of a pain when you have to choose again, if you have a lot of defaults set already, but it might clear things up.

I have the Moto Droid Turbo. I am strongly considering the Moto 360 to go along with the Turbo. Do you need to be running Moto Connect for the watch to work with the phone?

I cannot tell you this for certain, as I have only used my 360 with a Moto Phone running Moto Connect (either my 2013 Moto X or my N6). I know it works no matter the phone as long as it's 4.3 or higher software. I know it supposedly works better with Moto products. (I have even seen posts from people here that have said it wasn't as smooth with say a Samsung or LG or whatever) I do know both times I have mated it Connect takes over, so if you have a Moto device I don't believe you will have an option.

Every now and again I have an accident and say something that is helpful and makes sense. :po_O

I think you are more that "accidentally helpful in spite of yourself" ... don't sell yourself short!

Just found a cool new app, wasn't sure where to post it soooo.... Coffee Messenger for Wear - it's a nice easy app that lets you reply to texts via the watch itself without going to your phone or talking to your watch. Seems pretty cool. It allows you to set up canned responses of your own and then send them out from the watch. Kinda neat.

I couldnt find Coffee Messenger on the play store.

Edit: I added wear after my search and found it

Hello everyone! I am wanting to purchase the Moto 360 to use it for running. The feature I am most interested in is the Offline Music Playback, where you transfer songs from your phone to your smartwatch so that you can listen to your tunes without having to carry your phone around. This feature is great for runners, but I would like to know if I can listen to music and time my runs with a stopwatch, all at the same time. Is it possible to do such a thing?

Thanks!

I just tested this for you. I am playing music directly from the watch to a BT speaker, and am running the stopwatch at the same time. The audio stopped momentarily while starting the stopwatch, but picked right back up once the stopwatch loaded.

The screen stays on when the stopwatch is ticking, but pressing the side button turns off the screen, and both music and stopwatch keep running.

Is there some place I can learn how to do things with this watch, and how to have it be more than a fancy watch, and actually do things ?
The Motorola page isn't up so...

Thanks

Now what?

I received it on Saturday.. Set it up, updated the 5.0.2 and used it part day and then all day yesterday. Not sure what to think yet (generally speaking about the Wearable, not the 360 itself). I bought facer but have yet to create a watch face. I also need to create some analog hands for the watch as I would like to create both analog and digital.

I should mention that I have not worn a watch since phone started having time available on them so it has been at least 10 years.

I also noticed if I have 'Tilt to wake screen' it comes on quite a bit more than expected. one example is when I am driving. I also noticed if I rest my arm a certain way and the face is touching my leg the screen will come on and sometimes select an app.. It will take some getting use to again ( wearing a watch) and learning how to use it

but any suggestion on apps or other uses would be great.

Can you have both Facer and Watchmaker? I started to play with facer but it would be nice if there were some premade pieces to choose from 9liek watch hands etc)

I will give Watchmaker a try, right now I am using a Moto OEM face with my own image on it

I have both, no issues at all. Long press the watch face to select which to use then go into the app (phone) and send a new face over.
I've seen some hands shared on G+ in the Watchmaker community. There are some faces there that aren't on Facerpo, worth checking out if you use G+ at all.

Yes I do use G+.. i will check it all out.. Thanks

Also that mini app looks good, I will need to try it out when I have a few moments..

thanks

EDIT:

Dumb question, could I install watchmaker on my tablet to create the faces then export/import them to the watchmaker app on my phone?

I have a 360 that worked perfectly on my Moto X 1st gen but will not connect to my new X 2nd gen. I have reset the watch multiple times, 'forgotten' it in BT, uninstalled/reinstalled Android Wear, cleared cache (AW) and nothing I do fixes it. It tries to connect and I sometimes get the pairing code/check but it just won't connect/stay connected. Any ideas?

It hooked up to the BT I'm using in the car with no issue.

Problem solved.

I cleared cache on the phone and I'm good to go. Well. Besides having to start over with my WatchMaker faces.

I just flashed my N6 to 5.1 and had to do the same. (Re-do all my watch faces for watchmaker.) It was actually kinda fun. Lets ya trim the fat and only keep the ones you want. Plus facerepo.com has a ton of new ones since I looked 2-3 weeks ago.
:D

I love getting new phones but hate setting them up. It must have pulled settings from Helium that just stuck no matter what. Just glad it's up and working now. Got my watch face all set and I'm happy!
