Moto 360 Owner Observations. New/potential users check here

I just bought a Moto 360! Super stoked...

Except, I don't know where to start. Anyone who has an opinion, please let me know...

What apps are a "must have"??

Should I get a screen protector?

Any additional accessories I should consider?

Thanks for your input,
Kratos

I have a screen protector on mine. I honestly don't know how quickly, if at all, the screen would scratch but my watch takes a lot of small hits. I'm not klutzy by any means but it hits/brushes up against stuff all day long. A protector can't hurt is my theory.

As far as apps go, these are my needed basics:
WatchMaker
Facer Watch Faces
Wear Mini Launcher
Find My Phone

For faces, there are tons on facerepo.com.

Enjoy your watch!

Facer seems like a decent app, but for some reason when I set it as my watch face my watch disconnects from my phone and won't reconnect unless I turn on and then off airplane mode.

Though this has happened a couple times without facer set, but seems to happen more often when facer is set.

I honestly haven't used Facer in a while, I've been using just WatchMaker. My watch does sometimes disconnect but reconnects on it's own pretty quickly.

I already prefer WatchMaker because I can edit any watch face I download. I have not found a way to do this with Facer.

My watch is not disconnecting like it was, so I am thinking it may have been due to having just turned it one and what not shortly before.

I am really loving it so far!

+1 for WatchMaker Pro. It is a really powerful program and is easy on the battery. The level of sophistication with scripts and stuff is quite amazing. I check Facerepo.com daily... I'm a certified watch-face-o-holic.

PixtoCam is neat.

Wear Messenger is kind of cool and I thought I'd use it all the time but I never launch it. But it's worth keeping on the watch in case you'd ever HAVE to send a text from it using a keyboard.

I have the flashlight app installed too. I've used that from time to time.

Got my watch three weeks ago in the UK when John lewis had it on special offer price wise and were giving a 2 year warranty. Battery life improved after the update but still not great especially with third party faces. leaving on charge overnight would often result in it freezing up and the watch getting very hot. In use it would freeze a couple of times during the day and battery life would plummet. In the end returned it to John Lewis for a replacement. Shock horror new watch showed the same symptoms so went into defective mode to see if an app was causing the problem. Removed "Wear Mail Client for Gmail", bang what a difference, no freezing, no getting hot even when left on charge overnight, with third party face after 18 hours of use still 52% left. Its been 4 days now and not had any problems what so ever, I have written to the developer with my findings.

Well got a Moto 360 as a birthday gift, was excited about it at first, really is a sharp watch and beats the competition hands down on how it looks. But after that, it is a differently weak in the area of activity tracking, BP was off, steps off, calories off, no sleep monitoring (yes I know not the most accurate way monitoring activities) but at the price that was paid for it (Gold band and face plate), I expected a little more. Notifications were ok, although text replies using S voice takes practice, cannot pause to long or the app sends the text. No email reply from phone, have ur bluetooth headset handy. While I don't expect to be walking around talking into my watch, it is a different possibly when driving. I do have a older model Corvette that does not have bluetooth. Most of all the battery life is horrible or maybe it was good compared to those who have the 360 already, about 10 hrs is what I got from a full charge. Really disappointed, returning the watch, most likely going to go with a Samsung Gear Neo, not as nice looking, limited on devices, and apps but better than this brand.

DB something is wrong with your watch I get 24 hour + no problem. Check that an app is not causing problems I had "mail for wear installed "which eat the battery. Try the advice from Motorla support, on phone clear Play services cache and reboot phone. Factory reset watch and start again and re-pair with phone. Keep the watch on until it completely runs out of power and then let it recharge fully this recalibrates the charging phase. If all that doesn't work then the watch is at fault and should be changed. Do remember that continually changing faces and loosing BT contact can effect battery life.

Is there any faces available for download apart from facerepo? Will be much appreciated if you have more suggestions. I like to change my watchface just like how frequent I change my device wallpapers. :p

hi all.

i have tried a number of times and different words but can't seem to get it to save a calendar reminder :-\
it goes through the actions of doing it but nothing in calendar afterwards

what am i doing wrong?

thanks
dan

Hmm, never had a problem with that unless it dropped the bluetooth connection. Just a thought ... do you have the Google Now launcher installed? You don't have to use it, but i think it might make the voice recognition stuff better.

thanks

ah they did save, but not as normal calendar events.. some sort of other reminder :-\
