Root Moto G (3rd gen) Root Help

Hey guys, just got a new Moto G gen 3 a few days ago and really liking it, decided to try and root it since with my last phone it was really simple (kingo root) but with this, it seems to be a lot more difficult but have been following youtube videos showing me how since i have no idea what i am doing . I unlocked the bootloader and got a twrp.img file on there but i am now trying to put SuperSU on here but am having problems. When i put the .zip file in the directory and open the fastboot recovery thing, it comes up with an android opened up with a message "no command" i found a way around this by holding a variety of volume buttons, power etc but now i am currently in the "Android system recovery <3e> and i try to apply update from sdcard but when i choose the SuperSU.zip file it says "Finding update package...Opening update package...Verifying update package...E: failed to verify whole-file signature E: signature verification failed Installation aborted" i have tried applying update from ADB but has the same message. Would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this coz it is really getting on my nerves! Thank you all in advance!

It sounds like you don't really/yet have a custom recovery installed.

What you're describing very much sounds like the stock recovery (a stock recovery will not flash a .zip that is not signed by Motorola and that's why you're getting the signature verification errors).

Since I don't own or have direct experience with your device, I'm going to move your thread over to the Moto 3 (2015) root area for you so the folks in there can guide you best.

If you have adb,fastboot setup and usb debugging enabled. Type adb reboot bootloader. That will put you in fastboot mode.
Then download Twrp for the Moto G 3rd gen, put it in the fastboot/adb folder.

To temporarily boot this recovery:

fastboot boot twrp-osprey-2.8.7-r7.img

To permanently flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-osprey-2.8.7-r7.img

Twrp can be found on XDA for your device.
Once in Twrp either sideload SuperSU or install it from the SD card.

I had done this but i hadn't put the .img in the fastboot folder so i'll try that now, thanks!
