If you did option 1 then you have forever root installed and should be fine updating to .893. You can check if forever root is there by using root explorer and going to system/bin/mount_ext3.sh open that with text viewer and check to make sure it says
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
chmod 4755 /system/xbin/su
chmod 4755 /system/app/Superuser.apk
If it is missing superuser line you can add it by closing the viewer and open it with text editor. don't forget to change mount option at the top to r/w .
save it and exit.
