Then why aren't you looking at your phone from a raw data output? What you are using is an OS cover, in other words a USER INTERFACE.

Haha, of course an OS needs a GUI. I do not like covering the main GUI with another GUI which makes the main one nicer looking or whatever. I have the choice of making it nicer or leaving it as it is. With TF3D you had a choice, with SenseUI you do not have any choice.

Well delete Launcher.apk and see what GUI you have.

There is no "main GUI". Just take a look at the Linux GUI flavours.

No, it is not a pointless discussion. You want a single GUI like Windows. You are against choice.

HTC have done a brilliant job and they have a brilliant partnership with Google. You're the only one with a problem with Sense UI. I, and many others enjoy it thoroughly.

Firstly, I have the Desire and the Milestone just like you and i hate using the Sense UI. Frankly, its something i can do without.
Secondly-How does him not liking the Sense UI mean that he is against choice?
HTC imposing it on their phones means you have virtually no choice but to use their UI whether you like it or not.
The nexus one and the Droid are unique in that respect as they have no unique UI and have unlocked BL's.Therefore being completely customizable.

You're the only one with a problem with Sense UI. I, and many others enjoy it thoroughly.

They don't impose it, you can install the original or another. If you read up he's talking about there should only be one "main UI", that is against choice.

meh. Sorry, I like Sense UI. Everyone knows copy and paste sucks on Android. How do you do it in GMail with your Milestone? You actually have to SLIDE out your keyboard use the SHIFT key and highlight. That's not so bad except text in Gmail is so small.

iPhone gives you a magnifying glass to make it a LOT easier for cursor selection. Why do you think teh guy who modded the HTC keyboard on XDA included the ability to use the volume keys to move the cursor? Because using your finger to tap inbetween 2 characters is not 100% accurate.

Well, HTC SEnse makes copy and paste pretty iPhone like. In fact it's quite easy to use that I have to say it BEATS the iPhone. Check out Youtube videos.

Nothing wrong with sense. I actually feel HTC optimizes it a lot more for the OS. If it's that bad why do people keep trying to port SenseUI onto their Nexus One and other Google Experience Devices like the Droid.

Now please show me the # of people trying to get MotoBlur onto their Nexus One. Yeah, you get the point.

If Moto had anything like SenseUI I would not be buying it. All these SenseUIs and stuff like that is just covering the real OS. I hate that and if all android phones had something like that Android would become useless.

"Covers the REAL OS?" LoL. IF there's a better alternative I'll take it. You have to admit Android exchange support is pretty weak. HTC improves it with its work email app. The calendar is improved with the HTC widget. The fact is what HTC has done is really just bundling a lot of apps. If you don't want to use it, that's fine, but the fact is these programs help more than they hurt. If you want the RAW OS that's fine, that's a Milestone/Droid for you. Un optimized. Why do people install CyanogenMod on their Droids in no time? Go look at DroidForums. Very few people are running stock. The fact is the RAW OS isn't good enough for most people. If it were HTC Sense wouldn't be that popular.

But I understand it's not for everyone. If you don't want to use it, that's fine. It's everyone's choice in the end after all.

I think there's a misunderstanding..If I don't like the Sense UI, I would prefer a phone without it. That option would be taken away from me if each and every android phone on the planet runs it.

I didn't mean that no phone should run Sense UI if that's what you understood from my post.

No, there is always choice with open source. If you didn't like the launcher provided with the phone, there would be another alternative.

I'd prefer every android phone I have to not have the stock UI, but we can't all have what we want can we?

I don't get it...if you don't want to use Sense UI- just don't use it! On every HTC phone you can disable it and switch to original android UI (and you have a choice in this order)..what is the problem here?

This is completely senseless discussion- everyone make a choice, best for himself...why is a need to make a convince that one is wrong, but another- not...The Russian people say- "About color and taste- there is no friends.."

Not an improvement, just a functionality. Not enough for me to be stripped of all other stuff.

1. Exchange and Calendar are just apps and if you do not like the built-in get a different one that suits your need, you have a smartphone.

2. cyanogenMod - pretty simple, people have choice. Those who want it install it and those who do not want it don't. With SenseUI you do not have the choice.

is 1 ghz stable? heard 800 was safer. what about the fps on 2.1? Without overclocking it'd drop from 60 to 30, does it pick up after overclocking?

You could try the automatic module loading and applying the voltage and frequency at boot. But I have to warn you that you might brick your phone doing so. Just do a nandroid backup first and then play around. I've had no problems with this procedure.

- Download the overclock11.ko module from here -> Downloads - milestone-overclock - Project Hosting on Google Code

- On your phone create a folder called /system/modules/ with the permission 755 (you can use root explorer or a shell command -> chmod 0755 /system/modules)

- Put overclock11.ko on your SD card and use root explorer or a shell command to move it to /system/modules/

- Set the permissions of overclock11.ko to 644 (again, root explorer or a shell command -> chmod 0644 /system/modules/overclock.ko)

- Then use root explorer or a shell command to rename /system/bin/mot_boot_mode to /system/bin/mot_boot_mode.bin
Make a new mot_boot_mode file (regular text file with no extension) with this content:

export PATH=/system/bin:$PATH

#run original script
mot_boot_mode.bin

#
insmod /system/modules/overclock11.ko
echo 62 > /proc/overclock/max_vsel
echo 800000 > /proc/overclock/max_rate

- Copy this new file to /system/bin/ and you're done. You can reboot your phone and the new default frequency should be 800 MHz with a voltage required to run 800 MHz.

I've been running this setting for two days now and there have been no reboots and no hangs. Everything works smooth and SetCPU scales nicely with profiles enabled to save battery life when the phone is sleeping.

800 MHz at vsel 62 is perfectly safe. Some suggest vsel 68 at this frequency but that means pushing more voltage to the CPU which uses more power and has no effect on stability with most CPUs. If you experience problems with vsel 62, just up it to 68.

Could someone share his setCPU settings? Never used it before. I suppose I need to set the profile to low when sleeping and so?
