I did. I played Home run Battle 3d for about an hour it never crashed. Remember no two cpus are made exactly alike. Just because i can go to 56 vsel at 1ghz doesn't mean you will be able to. Some people can go even lower then 56 and be fine.

How do i make a nandroid backup. I was going to and i had the instructions when alldroid was up but then they shutdown and i no longer no how

Don't worry, the guide is for rooting a Milestone but it also describes how to do a nandroid backup.

ADB (you get this with the AndroidSDK) and ADBRecovery (link is on the site) are needed.


Google and read, that's what I do.
 
ahhh **** i'm stuck on that moto logo as well. umm..about performing a nandroid backup and restore? is it possible to make a backup of my phone even if i can't go past the moto logo?
 
i'm trying to follow the guide where i do the cmd line adb shell..and it says error: device not found

i've searched around and it said i need to have debugging on or something? but how can i do that if i can't get past the logo?
 
hey a couple of questions..i dl'd the 1.2apk and i can manually set vsel in settings. i have it set to 1ghz on 62 vsel. but at the top of the app, it says max freq: 550 and max vsel 56..uhh so me doing things in settings didn't change anything or is that a bug?

also, how are people using setcpu along with it? when i tried using setcpu i can only go to 550 max =(
 
1st - About the nandroid backup
No point in making a nandroid backup if you're already stuck at the M logo or your device won't boot. A nandroid backup is like a ghost image of your device. It saves the exact state your device is in at the time the nandroid backup was made. So if you're already stuck it's too late to make a nandroid backup, you should have thought of that before you messed up your device. Make a nandroid backup of the device when it's in the perfect state you wish it to be and before you try anything that might brick your phone.
You can turn on debug mode in Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.

2nd - About overclock.apk and SetCPU
You need to have root access and give overclock.apk root access (put it on the whitelist). Then you have to load the module and after that you can play with the settings.
Using SetCPU to overclock has no effect on the milestone if you haven't raised the frequency with overclock.apk or via the mot_boot_mode procedure. First overclock with the .apk, then play with governing and max frequency in SetCPU.

I hope this clears up some things.
 
The autorun script works before I update my rom to SHOLS_U2_02.34.3 ( released yesterday).
It won't boot anymore after I updated to the rom SHOLS_U2_02.34.3.
It seems that the new rom locked some files inside system ( by sign???) and I can't change anything inside \system\bin or it crashes....

hey fejker regarding the oc.apk and setcpu...when i originally get into setcpu i see it running at 1000mhz..but if i change anything, like profiles, it goes back to 550 =(

and last question..in the OC1.2.apk app, you know how you can set custom settings? i set it for 1ghz and 62vsel but the text at the top of the application still shows it running at 72vsel =(

edit: figured out the setcpu one, but the second question still has me stumped
 
mathk, I don't really understand what your question is. The SHOLS_U2_02.34.3 is for Hong Kong / Maccau but that should not make a difference. Although the module author lists on his site that the module will work only in the EU version of the ROM.

tekniqs, the .apk has some glitches and doesn't read the actual frequency reported by the system ... it assumes the frequency hasn't changed the last time it was run so that explains the 1 GHz setting. I remember having this issue as well when I was still using the .apk and this would happen every time my phone went to sleep (the frequency reset). So I decided to "hard code" it into the system by using just the module and the mot_boot_mode startup script and now the problems are gone. When you find a stable frequency and vsel I suggest you use this method as well if you don't want to reset the settings every time your phone reboots or goes to sleep.
 
hmm i haven't had that sleep/reset problem. I have mine set to 250-1000, on demand profile. i guess when the phone isn't being stressed, it runs at 250 and OC's to 1000 when need be. am i right?
 
Add the SetCPU widget (active) to your homescreen and you'll see exactly at what frequency your phone is running at at that moment.
 
if i'm not mistaken..if you're rooted, you can update your sbf through rsd lite and stay rooted. if i'm wrong, please correct me haha
 
I tryed the 1000mhz at 60 vsel and everything is ok, but the temperature of the phone is pretty big 45 C when i use the internet, is this normal?
 
That might be the radio working hard. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish. Games warm up the phone but it seems when the radio is fighting for reception that gets EVEN hotter.
 
Anyone get score of 19.5mflops in Linpack with cpu overclocked to 1.2mhz in milestone? How they manage to reach that?
