they are splitting the company. The making of wireless-telecom equipment is being sold to Nokia Siemen's Networks. Does that concern any of you who just purchased the Droid X?

As I understand it, this sale addresses Motorola selling off much of their wireless network infrastructure assets to a joint venture of Nokia and Siemens but does not affect Motorola's mobile phone or set-top box divisions, which are apparently set to spin off as their own company next year. So it might affect the carriers like Verizon much more than it directly affects Droid X owners.

Out of curiousity why should this bother us?

Motorola selling their wireless networking business should only impact access points and wireless data CPE (customer presence equipment). For their wireless telephones they can always use wireless chip sets from another manufacturer.
