Motorola Rep shows up, Verizon Store Pictures Taken!

Funny you mention that! I was at Costco the other day and asked the Verizon rep (actually all carrier rep, but anyway) when the Bionic was coming out and he stated it's not coming out anymore.

I guess I won't be shopping for phones at that Costco any time soon, but there's a closer one to me anyway :P

I was told at a Verizon reseller that the Droid 3 came out on the 28th of July. I was not amused.

I talked to the Live Chat lady @ vzw.com who told me yesterday it's not 100% that the Bionic is coming to Verizon ... until I linked her to the Verizon page ( Droid Bionic - Verizon Wireless )

Funny how uninformed or "stupid" employees can be :rolleyes:
 
Good point, however saying "It's not 100% certain it will come to Verizon" is a total lie, and I don't know about you, but I don't like being lied to, lol.

Yeah, but most people who don't cover these forums every day and would probably take that as fact.
 
One thing you have to remember - Until it actually starts selling, it's not 100% that it is coming. ANYTHING could happen to prevent its release....

If as a last test Motorola OCs the device and finds that it burns up the LTE chip they developed in-house, you can bet your bottom dollar they'll pull it real fast....

And that's just one scenario.

Careful with that. Policy is that we can only exchange a phone for the same one if there's some sort of defect. It'll be up to the kiosk manager whether or not they decide to exchange ya out. It def happens, but it's not supposed to. As a customer, I'd def go for it. But as the retailer, I wouldn't allow it. Just a head's up and my two pennies.

Me too. lol We really don't get a whole lot of advance notice on these things, mostly we can just add logs to the fire. But Costco and Wireless Advocates had a meeting earlier this month where the Bionic was brought out to play. Our regional manager thought it was phenomenal. The Costco manage at our store wasn't too impressed, said it was kinda slow. Who knows?

Still, I know Costco and WA are going to make this their flagship phone. They're poised to push a phone in a way they have never done before. In the words of Bart Scott, "Can't wait!"

Wow, that's just sad. Makes me wonder if he was just trying to get you to buy a phone that day or if he was just that ignorant. Either way, you're right to avoid that kiosk.

I realize most sales reps are just that. Personally, I believe in our company's name and our employee titles. We are your wireless advocates, not just your salesmen. As Wireless Sales Experts, we're here to ensure you get a device that not only meets your needs, but provides a mobile solution for as long as you have your phone. And that's not just lip service, nor just my opnion. I can tell you each of us at my kiosk feels the same way, and we will always make sure each customer knows every possibility available to them, even if there is a better solution than one we can provide.

I've become a phone geek over the past few years. I've learned so much from AF and the great users here. I can now share that with others. And every day I convert an iPhone user (I have a goal of one a day), I consider the war against evil is worth fighting. lmao

Thank you for not jumping on the hate for VZW Rep bandwagon. I don't know how many times I gotta say it, but we don't know when these phones are coming out. Everything I know I know from here! And until the day the phone arrives at my store, I will not tell any customer it is 100% coming out.

That being said, unlike some reps, I will share the knowledge that I do have. You just need to keep in mind that some reps WILL withold information because we are COMMISION sales. Other reps honestly just don't know. That doesn't make them bad people.

Definitely. I've done my time as a service rep (though not VZW) and am all too familiar with customers giving us heat for something we have no control over / visibility into.
These forums are comprised of very enthusiastic Android users and VZW folks here of their own volition. It makes perfect sense that we're going to hear it here first. Don't hate "Joe Average VZW Salesperson" just because they don't lurk on here everyday or get routine magical transmissions from the VZW mothership. :rolleyes:

PS: If you're a VZW rep and you're reading this, you're probably not a "Joe Average VZW Salesperson".. just FYI. ;)

Lol - no worries, m8. I've done CSR myself in the past, and I've also done sales as well.

I was great at commission-based sales, as long as I truly believed in the product -I couldn't sell you many things that I felt were inferior products, no matter ho much of a mark you are. But, yeah, I know some folks are dishonest b/c they'd rather get the sale today than wait until next month....

My point was that until it is in the stores being sold, it ain't 100%, Period.

One more thing is that not all stores are equal - training is like anything else - there is a trickle down effect. And, no matter how you look at it, corporate strategy is always geared to selling off existing inventory in order to make room for upcoming inventory.

I had a retention specialist call me and tell me the same thing. But she was pushing me to buy one of the current 4G phones and get back on contract. She doesn't make any bonus money if I wait and don't order from her. :rolleyes:
