Root Motorola Xoom has been Rooted!

lol... guys, this isn't even a hack. See that fastboot oem unlock step? That's the intentional bootloader unlock included as a feature. Then they are reflashing the OS image with a new one that allows root, which is EXACTLY what the bootloader unlock is intended to do. Again, this is no hack, this is just someone doing exactly what the feature was intended for.

Show me a root without doing fastboot oem unlock, then I'll be interested.

Also regarding the unroot method, that doesn't really apply when doing the bootloader unlock. Unlocking the bootloader causes a hardware change indicating the warranty is void. There is no going back from that.

Know what you're getting into.

Given how fast this has happened, I bet we'll have an unroot method within a week.:p

That is what I am waiting for. Once an SBF file has been released, then all bets are off. P3 said he would not release anything until there is a working SD card update.

As tempted as I am to root I'm going to hold off until there's an unroot method so I can safely send my xoom in for the 4g upgrade when its available

Not to mention that as of right now, there isn't a reason to root yet, nothing that requires it has been released. I'll wait and see what on the horizon as well.

No need to root right now IMO. I'll wait until after my 4G upgrade, hopefully there are custom roms available by then.

To me rooting a XOOM is pointless, right now. Usually one roots a device to install the "latest and greatest" the XOOM is about as new and up to date as you're going to get.

Give the devs a little time, I am sure that there will be some nice additions to come. For right now though, I am going to stay with stock until the 4G switch over.
