And as far as I can tell, once you link an app you dont need root to run that app. root is used to move apps over and make the initial link to the SD partition.

You don't need to use a switcher to partition an SD card. You only need a switcher to modify the system partition. You don't have to modify the system partition to partition an SD card. Think... I don't know why people think they need to use a switcher for every little thing. Unless you are adding, removing, or editing a file or directory inside the system folder, you don't need system r/w
