Help Music Player app that continues in the background?

I am looking for a music player that will continue to play in the background. There are some streaming apps that will do this, but I am looking for one that plays mp3's. The HTC player quits playing when I push and hold the home key to switch to another app. So does RockPlayer.

I use the stock player and it plays in the background just fine, even if i hold down the home button to switch apps. You might have a problem.

I think all players would continue to play on the background. Though I've only been using 2 of them, the stock one, and btunes. :)

I was experiencing a similar problem. I was finding podcasts I wanted to listen to, with arcmedia's file browser, but it sent mp3s to the standard player. But when I came that way, they would not play in the background though I know that music that I started directly in the standard player would play in the background.

That I didn't start the podcasts directly from the standard player was because I hadn't found how to find all mp3 files on the SD card. I just found a way to search from the standard player that found the podcasts,:) But now I can't find it again! :(

The stock HTC Sense music player kept playing in the background even on my Sprint HTC Hero. It never even stuttered even if I was doing a lot of multitasking.

I use PowerAMP now and love it. It costs a few dollars, but it is a robust music player.

On my HTC Desire stock player (it may be a part of HTC Sense, but I'm not sure) stops playing as soon as I switch to another app. This happen after I open an mp3 file by this player from a file browser.

The phone wasn't rooted and I haven't activate any task killer.

However, indeed, when I just play a song without using a file browser, the player doesn't stop playing after app switching.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not sure what you are asking about, but why not then just go into the music app and select the music file you want to play. why use a file manager to find it and play it? just use the app that way you do not have to worry about it stopping.

but if this is really an issue for you then i would suggest that you head on over to the HTC Desire - Android Forums where you might get better help as this is an evo 4g forum.
