MY-CAST Weather is NOW available

The My-CAST version we have been waiting for just got put in the market. $3.99...best weather app ever!

Not to rain on your parade but between the stock weather app, weatherbug, and my favorite the weather channel app...$3.99 seems pricy for yet another weather app.

I'm just not sure what the benefits are? I looked at the details but it seems very similar to weather channels app, which even warns me of incoming storms etc.

I'm not trying to dis your product but it just seems that we had some great free weather apps already. Just my 2 cents.

the thing that REALLY bugged me about the weather channel app is that the severe storm watch/warning thing that'd come up in the notification bar would not go away after I checked it about 20 times. I even changed the settings to 'no notification' etc. and those 2 red dots were still in my notification bar for hours, even past when the warning time was even over. i just got rid of it. wish they'd fix that cause otherwise it's good.

FOUR BUCKS and not even a trial version!

From their site:
My-Cast is available for the most recent phones on all major wireless carriers. Subscription fee is just $3.99/month, billed directly to your phone bill.*

Most of the features I can get in my browser:

  • Flashing watches, warnings and advisories from the National Weather Service
  • Animated Nexrad radar
  • Animated infrared and visible clouds
  • Predicted storm paths
  • Dynamic weather themes
  • Hourly, and extended forecast including percent chance of precipitation
  • Hurricane tracker including path map, satellite view, storm watch view and text information
  • Weather map with weather icon, wind direction, dew point, temps, and wind speed
  • Lightning tracker
  • Almanac
  • UV index
  • Community weather quiz
  • Community mood map
  • Community observation map
except for the community stuff?

I like weatherbug, even the free version will give you the alerts. I run it WITH my HTC weather clock so I can get the alerts, then pull up WB or my favorite weather site in the browser.

Is this app really the best out there? I don't see android support on their website... looks to be iphone-centric, so it's already possibly outdated.

Why? For me, the radar. If you are interested in having looping radar, I haven't seen an app that has as nice a radar as My-Cast.

For $4, I am willing to take a chance of getting wet when I step outside ;)

Of course, I live in a desert...

Glad you like it though!

Rainy Days is an awesome free app for radar (straight NWS feeds in the US (what all those other products are based on)). I haven't used My-Cast to compare it (and probably wont)...

Haven't paid for an app yet and I have tons. i'll pay for Slingbox app when it comes out this summer. Whats wrong with the Weather Channel app? Works for me fine.

clearly the app dev posted this. and then made a second account to back his own claims. anyways, "Palmery Weather" does all of this stuff for free and has a really nice UI.

Gotta give the OP some props for effort, but yeah he'd be lucky to get even one paying customer considering the many free (and more established) alternatives out there.

If you want a weather radar, Weatherbug Elite is much better. $2 and you even get a widget that you can put on your phone. I would never pay $4 a month for a weather app.

Waste of money in my opinion. There are better free apps out there. Next month, AccuWeather is coming out with a cutting edge weather app to replace their current dull app. I'd wait for that one.

Anyone try loading Weather Underground for iPhone in their browser? I don't have my DInc yet, so I can't verify, but I really liked this mobile page on my iTouch. Had zoomable looping radar, loaded personal weather stations (including the one in my backyard!) and everything.

For what it's worth, the best mobile radar app out there is RadarScope ($9.99), but alas, it's iPhone only for now. Lots of chasers use it, and there are extensions to layer your position on the screen. I only wish it would be released for Android. :(

$4 bucks a month for a weather app??? I had to check, for a second I thought I was on crackberry.

Wait, in the market it says nothing about a monthy fee. Hmmm.

Still waiting on my Incredible. My favorite looping radar app for my Droid is iWeather, not sure if it works on the Incredible. Great radar, drops a pinpoint on your GPS location. My guess is that eventually Google will have a weather overlay on Maps. Shocked that it has taken this long frankly.

I too use Weatherbug for the location based weather warnings. Big deal for me when I'm on the water, which isn't in the same area as my house!

I have tried Weather Underground for iPhone, but was sadly disappointed to find that the RADAR isn't animated.

what about the app called "rainy days" thats available from market. It loops the radar over top of google maps?

This is pretty bad ass.

*edit- wildland- you beat me to it. Great minds think alike!
