MY-CAST Weather is NOW available

I have an app that no one has mentioned but absolutley kills. It even works when the phone is off.

Hold the phone up in the sky.
Look around.
There's your weather.

Just downloaded Rainy Days. Really nice app. Loads much quicker and smoother than Radar Now.

Anyone try loading Weather Underground for iPhone in their browser? I don't have my DInc yet, so I can't verify, but I really liked this mobile page on my iTouch. Had zoomable looping radar, loaded personal weather stations (including the one in my backyard!) and everything.

For what it's worth, the best mobile radar app out there is RadarScope ($9.99), but alas, it's iPhone only for now. Lots of chasers use it, and there are extensions to layer your position on the screen. I only wish it would be released for Android. :(

This is exactly what I use. Unfortunately, the radar is not animated...but I personally don't really care. Also, m.wund.com is their generic mobile site....it is the same info without the graphics to make it look Apple like.

it doesn't say anywhere in the market anything about PER MONTH. all i see is 3.99. i'm gonna have to agree, though. with an internet enabled phone that i already pay $30 a month for data, why would i want to pay $4 more just for weather? i'll stick with the free weather channel app for now. thanks for the recommendation though.

ps: screen shots would be helpful in convincing :-)

+1 for Rainy Days.

Also, just a reminder on apps, and the complaints of no trials. You can purchase an app, then if you don't like it, you can uninstall it within 24 hours for a full refund. I just did this to check out MyCast Weather.

Why? For me, the radar. If you are interested in having looping radar, I haven't seen an app that has as nice a radar as My-Cast.

Haven't paid for an app yet and I have tons. i'll pay for Slingbox app when it comes out this summer. Whats wrong with the Weather Channel app? Works for me fine.

Weather Channel app has radar - and it works well enough for me.

What's really too bad about this is that the dev spent a lot of time developing an app that we all already have, and now wants to charge for it.

There was a mention of the fact that there is no trial version, remember, you have 24 hours to get a refund for any Android app you purchase in the market.

My Cast is a great weather app if you want to see up-to-date watch/warning maps by county, along with very detailed radar. A must have when chasing storms!

FYI, On MyCast's facebook page they clearly state that there is NO monthly fee for this app, it is a one-time fee of $3.99.

That's funny, because on their website they very clearly state "My-Cast is available for the most recent phones on all major wireless carriers. Subscription fee is just $3.99/month, billed directly to your phone bill."

Charging $3.99 a month is ridiculous, if you don't life the stock weather for sense, get the weather channel app or weatherbug, they both are established and work great and they don't have a worthless monthly fee like the people selling my-cast.

Bought this yesterday and removed last night. With all kinds of thunderstorms headed toward the NY area yesterday I figured I'd try it as I've yet to find a great weather site for radar.

I am an avid weather enthusiast and have WB elite, but that radar is, well, "buggy". I mean that when I resize the screen, somce of the radar images get blocked out. If that was fixed I could live with this.

Weather Underground is by far the best radar (on the PC as well), but their radar can't animate on our phone.

Radar Now is OK, but the NWS radar has too many extraneous echoes.

Anyway, Mycast seemed like the answer until I got to the limited screen sizing options on the radar page (2 sizes - far away and zoom). With these limitations I would expect a free app. Not that the $4 is the issue per se, but for a pay site I expect more.

Still awaiting that perfect site but in the meantime using WB elite with its limitations.

I am involved in emergency management and fire/rescue and I also am searching for the right app. I just picked up my phone a week or so ago (Alltel Hero running 2.1) and am struggling to find a good app for animated radar which is my main concern.

What I'm wondering is how to get WeatherBug Elite. I search it in the market and also have found a barcode for it and scanned it but the search and barcode return nothing. Why would that be?

Weather Channel has been hit and miss. Sometimes the loop works, other times no. Radar now just fizzles on my phone for some reason. Never did get it to work. Rainy Days works awesome but with 10 minute updates that many times are 15+ minutes behind, it just doesn't cut it. I can't find iweather when searching the market. Accuweather has no animation.

Long story short, I have 15 days to return my phone and if I can't find a great radar site, I might have to even though I love every other aspect of the device.

Side note: Awesome Forum! Very well monitored from what I've seen so far.

Thank you

Maybe I need to bold it, no one apparently tried it from my post above.

iMap Weather - great animated weather radar, uses the GPS to pinpoint your location. My only complaint is that sometimes it puts me in the middle of Kansas and I'm in PA.

IMAP is very nice and quick to load but its radar updates are even less frequent than rainy days at 15 minutes. I know it sounds "picky" but when I've got spotters wanting to know where to be and where to watch and I can't be at my computer I need a little more frequent updates. Like I used to get on weatherunderground on my blackberry that I don't want to have to switch back to.
