My Droid deleted ALL of my texts AGAIN...

My droid deletes all my text messages randomly. I've had it for 2 1/2+ months and it has done it twice, leading me to believe that it happens every month, regularly, because it always happens at the beginning of the month. The last time it happened, I brought it to the Verizon store but all they do is blame the consumer for any faults with software because Android is open source. Is there a way to get my texts back and how can I solve this problem? Is there an app that deletes text messages every month or so because of a hidden setting? Is there a solution to this problem without reformatting (I have my contacts, calendar, and a bunch of other stuff on my phone and also apps and I don't wanna delete anything).

Are you using the stock messaging app or another one (such as Handcent)? Do you have your messaging app to delete messages after a certain amount is reached?

I use the stock messaging app and I went into the options awhile ago (like when I first got my phone) and made the max number of texts per thread 5000 or something like that and each thread hasn't even reached 1000 yet (most are around 200-500) before they get deleted. Ugh I lost a lot of info and pic messages.

My phone did this the other day, so frustrating! Even if it is the auto delete "feature" why would it not work like my old dumb phone and just delete as needed as opposed to deleting all of them at once?

Well I try not to download too many things to prevent any glitches; especially anything that I could just use the native apps for. I hope that the Droid will be less glitchy when 2.1 comes out.

There is some bug with the stock messege app. It used to do that to me even with noapps. Use handcent man it does not do that. Ihave over 4000 messeges and still going strong

My regular droid messenger deletes my texts randomly too. For no apparent reason. Happens about once a month. Maybe twice. It isnt the auto delete option either cuz I dont have that option on. I still use it though because I do not like any of the other messenger apps.

I just want to know what we do to make this issue to Motorola
. Do we like email them or something?

Not sure if this phone works this way, but I know some older phones would share memory with things like text messages and would delete them out when memory got full. (I highly doubt this is the case).

My phone deleted all my test messages but I was able to get them back. I use wave secure and did a restore. I lost a few days worth of texts, but that was my fault because I didn't backup for a few days.

To the OP, you won't loose all your info with a factory reset. Everything is stored in the "cloud" from Google. It will sync up all your contacts and data. I believe it will even reinstall all your apps once you add your GMail account to the device.

the same happened to me as well. i use the Droid's SMS application and randomly one day i check my messages to find that I have none. Very very annoying

I need help with this too; my droid deleted all my txt on new years and two more times after that and it is just random when it happens this is very annoying I lost a lot of important information because of that. I don't have it on auto delete and I have it set to 5000 per thread and I never came close to that yet it still deleted everything how do I stop this from happening is there a way for me to restore or get back my deleted text messages.

Use SMS backup and restore and periodically backup all your texts. You can also use Save MMS to save your pictures and videos you get as texts.

My droid deletes ALL my texts about every other day now..It used to be once a month. Today is my birthday. I was hoping to save the birthday texts for a while...they're all gone now. Even if I "lock" a message, it will delete them ALL. I have that anti-virus thingy, and I read on one of these posts that the program will sometimes delete them..so I'm testing this theory out and disabling the antivirus. Any new leads on this? It's very frustrating.

Mine did this last week for the first time...had my Droid since the weekend it came out...I do not use any anti virus programs, don't use handscent, don't root...I sent a text to a friend, he replied, I looked at it, went back, everything was gone...
