Root my evo overheats

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why my phone seems to over heat. basically whenever I browse the internet or listen to music on my evo my phone gets fairly warm and drains my batts really fast. I thought it might be the batteries but I got replacements and they die just as fast (within 2-4 hours of just normal use) I am using cm9. thanks in adv

Has this just occurred recently? As in, you just flashed cm9 and this issue arose?
What temp does your phone get to?
When you say it dies within 2-4 hours of normal use, do you mean browsing the internet or listening to music for 2-4 hours?

its been happening for awhile now maybe for the past 3 months Ive been ignoring it since i have 4 batts and can rotate them (broken charging port) Im not sure what the temp is but it starts to heat up after roughly 20 mins of just browsing the web. Right now Im losing about 1% every min or so an im not even using my phone.

Well, my phone does heat up after about 20 minutes of being on the internet, so that is quite normal.

However, the 1% or so every minute of non use is not. yikes

Is it searching for signal? Battery life will suffer if in a bad area or roaming.

Could be some sort of wakelock or rogue app running in the background.

There are apps out there that can track wakelocks for you such as Better Battery Stats in the play store....I dont think that one is free tho.

I have terrible signal in this area so that might be it luckily cm9 comes with better batt stats I think it might be kik messenger i dnt use it and its always running in the background. I thought about getting the seido 3500 mah battery but i wasnt sure how it would help since my phone goes through about 5 batteries a day

When was the last time you updated prl and profile update? Flash a sense rom and update prl and profile update then nandroid back to cm9.
