Root My FIRST new ROM after Rooting caused a boot loop. Need help :(

So...after months of debating I finally decided to root my Incredible last night, however, the first new ROM that I installed and tried to use caused a problem apparently, (irony, neh?) because now my phone is what I assume to be a boot loop. Since, it restarts, gets to the red droid eye of Satan, then restarts again repeating this process until the end of days.

I can get into the recovery menu, by holding down the joystick and the power button, but I don't know what to do after that, do I "apply sdcard:update.zip", which it tells me that I can't undo if I choose to do so (therefore making me paranoid)? Or is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Thanks in advance!

Did you make a nandroid right after you rooted, when things were still OK? You can restore from that (it's under the "backup" menu in clockworkmod recovery if I recall correctly).

Get into recovery then mount your sd card via usb. Download a rom, copy it to your card (the entire zip file, don't extract it) then wipe all data, install zip from sd card, reboot.

I finally found it, and I'm restoring as we speak. I'll see what happens afterwards.

I had the same problem with the CyanogenMOD 6.1 ROM. Apparently you have to "Clear Storage and Cache" when using ROM manager. Or from HBOOT, clear the storage. After I did that, it continued to boot properly.

This is for Full ROMs, not MODs only. Also, one should read the information about the ROM before flashing. It usually says the recommendation for clearing or not.

Well that's ironic, because I loaded Cyanogen without any problem. I just had problems getting past the loading screen at first. However, all I did to fix that was restart my phone.
