I needed to use Google Maps yesterday, and the GPS icon kept blinking and the phone couldn't find my location on the map for about 15 minutes, so I gave up. An hour later, I turned it on and it found me almost instantly, although not very accurately, but good enough.

This morning, the same thing happened on my way to work. I tried it and it didn't work for 10 minutes, but then it started working. Both times, once it finds me, every now and then it loses my location for a few moments before finding me again.

My wife's LG Optimus S works perfectly (tried both side by side). The Optimus locates me on the map in less than 3 seconds every time, and it never loses my location.

Anyone else having GPS issues? I stupidly assumed that the Nexus phone would be the "iPhone" of Androids, since it's Google's phone. Now I'm thinking of returning it.

I have had the same experience as you. I sometimes restart the phone to make the gps work properly. I hD the same problem with my palm pre too.

Yeah, me too. I hate that. If you leave your GPS signal all day on you should be fine since it will keep on tracking you, however that may eat your battery much faster. So whenever you are stuck, take a minute and just restart it and it will work like a charm.

I PROMISE this will work. I use it on my Sexus S as well as when I had my Hero. Download the app called "GPS Status." Once you open it press menu > tools > manage A-GPS State. Choose "Reset". Repeat and then choose "download." After this you should be set!

To double check, exit the app and then open it again. It'll tell you how many seconds it takes for your GPS to lock on.
