Root My LG Connect battery lasts 2 hours. :|

what CmptrCapone did was a battery calibration, that was the first thing i did when i got my phone or any other devices that required charging, fully charge the battery with phone on/off, when fully charged disconnect from the charger, just use the phone till it shuts itself off, repeats 3 to 5 times, doing this will prolong the battery life.

Correction here, calibration is what you do to the software so it reads the battery voltages right. I BALANCED the battery cells themselves. I did not calibrate the battery, its not a measuring device.

yes that is correct, but its the same method used. use battery indicator, battery left or similar from the playstore to monitor batteries percentage, volts, temps, time left etc....

there is only one way to get max capacity from a stock 1540mah battery. First thing is to drain battery till phone shuts completely down(no metropcs splash screen, or keys lit up). Plug it charger and let it balance itself(home keys flashing). do this process about 2-5 times and you will see a diffrence right there. Then install juice defender(thats what i use, never tried others. your preference) and set it to aggresive. i dont have a exact life span but its atleast double from phone out of box. after cycling my battery about 5 times now it really lasts. and it doesnt get hott unless im using it obviously, charging or not. thats my experience so far. seems to be a great phone. better than my esteem. wish it had hdmi though! good luck all!

Thanks for the detailed history lesson but I believe your first post here, said all that needs to be said.

While short battery life and overheating are some what manageable ... it's hard to deny the shortcomings of this dinky battery for this powerful handset.

If it were just a phone, text, email, it would be fine. But this machine was made to do alot more, and this battery can't handle it. Infact, the overheating can be dangerous. Even you said "it doesn't get hot unless I'm using it" well, duh...

Even a noob can tell when something doesn't add up. Granted, we might be overworking this toy, but how can we not with what it can do?

Actually untill today, my battery was only lasting 2-3 hours with heavy use. But as reccomended, let it deplete completely and recharge fully ( I let mine recharge while the device was off) and let it do that quite a few times! I have probably done 7-10 times, and so far, with the same kind of heavy use, the past 3 hours my battery went from 100% to 89%. And battery temps have been around 36c the whole time!

3 hours heavy use, and only 11% used. I feel like someone is pulling my leg.

That would equate to better than 15 hrs of heavy use on a full charge.

I continued with the heavy use, and I'm just now at 10%. Granted its not as long as I thought it would last. But still pretty long considering I been playing deadspace and shadowgun about 60% of the time since I last posted in this thread.. oh and may aswell add that I am not running juice defender, setcpu, or any of those battery saving tools. Just got rid of the bloatware

I get about 4 hours of continuous surfing on the internet. The 4G seems to be the big killer of the battery. I don't play games. It doesn't overheat when I surf, only when I stream for an hour or more.

I have balanced the battery 3 or 4x now. I'll try a few more times see what happens. My main concern is the overheating. I'm in NYC and the temps here are in the 50's. Pretty chilly which should be factored in. This handset should not be running this hot (107-118

Have you rooted yet or waiting while you check it out? That the stock bat?

Thanks for reply. Honestly, I didn't think the temps were bad either. But if it was to go to sleep right in the middle of your game, wouldn't you think something is wrong? That's what happens to me, even though it's not that hot when I stream. 107 - 118

it is very possible that there are bad batches of batteries in our phones. i think some of you have a legitimate issues with battery performance. these batteries have been MASS produced and the quaility of the cells is poor. i think the biggest issue is that the manufactues are not pair up matched cells. when i built high performance high discharge packs i always used cells the were with .20 millivolts of each other. i firmly believe these packs are recycled or "thrown" together. im researching a custom tailored battery for my cell. i know a guy here near detroit that build LIfe batteries. (lithium ferrite cells) never had an oppurtunity with this battery composition but its only a cell, they dont discharge at a high currect. Ive had electric 540 sized (10th scale) can motors pulling 100amps! stupid torque! they just bust cars drivelines to bits. It was awesome. there are several companies that make custom packs size and shape is the only issue. if you guys want they best, shell out the dough. in reality the connect is a mid range phone, what do you want. its like complaining about a stock mustang that dont do 10 sec quater miles out of the box and complain that its breaking while trying to do it. ill keep you guys posted on the cells im looking into.

Forgive me for the noob questions but when you say stock battery you are referring to the battery that comes with the phone, correct? And also how do you balance the phone?

Amari thats a great question, unfortunatly its been THOURGHLY laid out for you already.

Step 1/ hit page up button till the screen stops scrolling.
Step 2/ (the hardest part cause it requires effort and skill) READ! start at top and DONT stop till you get all the way through. If you cant find answer then post questions, Thanks.

Guide on how not to be a noob!

I suggest all you guys complain to lg support like i did to make sure they make it a hot issue to get attention like i did. They told me before my complaint they had none. Even if they don't fix it right away or give a good solution

this is happening to my wifes phone right now - ordered a new battery from metro (what an ordeal - they tried to deliver it 3x times when we weren't here at noon during the week and then took the package to a holding area 30 miles away).

Newayz ... installed new batter ... chareged over night - it's lasted 2 hours today ...

Bout to reset to stock and go from there .... only app i see are fb app, weather.com that could cause an issue ...

She was getting overheating messages with the old battery in a jelly case

I hope you guys it just the stock battery that gets overheated I switched to the motions didn't overheat lucid nope viper no overheat and my extended 3500 no over heat usually stayed around 98

We've covered this already. Get a different battery. Non LG.

As soon as I replaced mine, heat temps were normal.

Oh, and overclocked roms tax the battery big time too. It's not really worth it. The last thing is should be obvious... apps. Factory restore, then add one at a time each day to see if any are particularly bad.
