Ok so I've been reading about how some people around here never got their voicemessages or texts. Well today, my friend calls me and tells me he left me a voicemail, and there's nothing. I convinced myself that he didn't, so I decided to test it out and left a voicemail from another phone. It's been 10 minutes and I haven't received it yet. He also said that he texted me 4 or 5 times yesterday, and I haven't received those either. I've had the phone for literally 3 weeks. This is very frustrating. Just the fact that it can't do the basic phone functions irritates the crap out of me. I'm gonna try rebooting the phone, but guess what? I don't want to reboot and wait the hour reboot time (ok i'm exaggerating) each time I want to check if I got a voicemail or text (that's if it works).

Are there any other solutions?
 
samething happened to me try updating your prl and profile, i had to call sprint because this same exact issue happened to my phone (right around the 3 week mark too which is crazy) if that doesent work call sprint tech support and ask them to take you through the manual prl and profile update and this worked like a charm for me ...hope that helps its a crappy feeling when the "smart phone" acts like its not even a phone
 
The same thing happened to a friend's phone. We called Sprint and they took care of it by re-generating the voicemail queue. It has now worked for 4 months with no problems. Unfortunately, they wiped out the existing message, so we will never know; I hope one of the messages wasn't from the Lottery :)

You can also use Google Voice to get your voicemail for you. I've been using it for quite a while and I really love it.

You know what, yesterday for the first time I updated the prl and profile. And I'm assuming since I did that, I haven't received anything. I honestly don't have the time to sit and talk to tech support. But I'll have to do it if everything else fails. Which rebooting my phone just failed. CRAPPY feeling.

Call Sprint and describe the problem just as you have here. They will take care of it (eventually ;) ). Texts were also slow to come through on my friend's system...it was as if the network wasn't recognizing that the phone was there.

Both texts and vms have worked fine ever since.

I feel your pain, wallyy.
Happened to me last week. I noticed that my GF just called and waited to get the voicemail notification (she always leaves a message). No notification, nothing in voicemail. Called her back and confirmed that she DID leave a message. I called the Hero from my work phone, left a message - NOTHING!
Half an hour later I finally get the voicemails. This is unacceptable. The novelty of this phone is wearing quickly when the basic phone funtions don't operate correctly. I read in another post here that someone reboots their phone every three days just to make sure it's operating correctly.

This phone/service is more high maintenance than some of the women I've dated. :eek:
 
The Sprint tech just told me that HTC is aware of the texts problem, and they're working on it, but there's nothing about the voicemail issue.
 
I had the exact same issue shortly after I got the phone. Contacted Sprint, and they indicated that they were having a service outage in my neck of the woods at the time I was missing messages, and that was the cause. Sure enough, haven't had the issue repeat itself since then.

Still can't hurt to update your profile and PRL, but I guess the point is that it's not a foregone conclusion that it's the phone and not just Sprint, as others have pointed out.

In my friend's case, it was definitely all Sprint. I did say they would fix it *eventually*; we had to call a few times until we got the right support person, then it took 10 minutes to reset the phone and update PRLs etc. When you call back, ask for an escalation to a more senior tech support person.

They just fixed it. But now I'm worried it'll happen again! Am I gonna have to leave a voicemail for myself everyday to make sure I'm receiving them? :(

Congrats. We did for about three days...until we were convinced it's working. Glad you got it fixed :)

I had the exact same issue and went to the service center and had them replace my phone. They said I broke my phone by downloading an app from the marketplace and it had to be replaced.

Whats wrong with that? How long do you go between rebooting your phone? Its not a computer, you cant go weeks without shutting down or restarting it. If you do, no wonder your phone acts weird.
 
Theres a big difference from rebooting and just turning off the screen.......Shouldn't have to reboot very often......

I do so when I need to. So this is normal behaviour for all smart phones - reboot 2-3 times a week to so it doesn't act weird?

This actually couldnt be farther from the truth. Every one should TURN OFF their phone ( power down ) completely at least once per day. It doesnt have to be for long periods of time. 1 minute will do the trick. this takes it off the network so that it is no longer communicating. When the phone does re register with the network, any dowloads or software pushes will show up and usually install themselves.

This is a best practice and will help to ensure that your phone always has the most up to date software and PRLs..

Interesting. Learned something new.
But would this not be true with all cell phones/carriers? I've had a simple Razr for four years w/ US Cellular and never a dropped call or delayed/unreceived voicemail.
 
Does it update PRL's on it's own with a reboot? I decided to start rebooting mine atleast once a day. Mostly because when I use androzip to move my pics around they don't show up correctly in my albums till after reboot. Now it seems like a good idea to do so for other reasons.


You guys still use voicemail? I hate checking mine, luckily not many people leave them anymore. If I call someone and get their VM, I hang up and shoot them a text.
