Help My phone is having a mid life crisis. Please help!

I upgraded from Gingerbread to the new Jelly Bean. It was a disaster.

The phone was running much slower, constant lag when opening up apps and while typing. On top of that, there were a bunch of minor annoyances I had with the Jelly Bean update. So I decided to downgrade back to Gingerbread.

Anyways, I looked up some guides and YouTube videos, and precedeed to download Odin with the 2.3.6 firmware. There is where it all went to Hell.

After Odin completed the process, the phone won't turn on AT ALL. I can't put the phone in download mode or recovery either. It's not recognized by Samsung Kies either. I have it plugged in (tried different USBs) and there IS a sound of connecting/disconnecting the phone to my computer, but it won't show up on Kies.

Since I can't connect it to Kies or put it in download/recovery mode, I can't really do anything.

What can I do to use my phone?! The nearest T-Mobile store is 2 hours away (I'm in College)... Please help! Thank you.

Hi syatek. Do you have the SGH-T989 Galaxy S2? Do you have a link to where you downloaded the firmware?

Try pulling your battery for a minute. Then put it back in and try to get in download mode. Follow this Odin guide.

Yes I do have the SGH-T989, I don't have the exact link but I think it was something like I0900? International firmware maybe...

I've tried the battery trick, no luck :\

Thanks for your response, any other ideas?

EDIT: It's worth nothing that I can't get the phone into recovery/download mode. The phone won't vibrate and the screen won't flash.

I hate to tell you but if you flashed the galaxy s2 i9100 firmware you have bricked your phone. :(

You can try to get T-Mobile to replace it or go to mobiletechvideos.com and pay for their jtag service. That's going to be the only way to get it going now.

You might try a jig to get it in download mode. I've never used one. I think you can get them on eBay for just a few dollars. I don't know if it will work or not.

Dang :( I'm such an idiot haha. Thanks so much for your responses though, now I know for sure and can stop trying.

I heard about those Jigs, I think I'll try that out since they're only a couple bucks.

Thanks again mate

You're welcome. A jig's worth a shot anyway. If you can get it in download mode with the jig then follow that Odin guide.

Will do. Does the type of Jig matter? The only one I can find specifically for T-Mobile Galaxy SII SGH-T989 is shipped from Hong Kong and that'll take weeks.

I think it has to be specifically for our phone because the wires have to connect a certain way. If you're any good at electronics and soldering I think you can Google instructions to make your own. I've seen it at xda somewhere a while back.

Usually a shipment from hong Kong takes about 10 days.
