My S3 updated this am

My S3 updated a few minutes ago. I wasn't aware one was coming. Anyone know what it was about? It still shows version 4.1.1
 
Moved this thread to the Samsung Galaxy S3 section. :)

So it's not Jelly Bean? I thought they'd have the OTA by now. :confused:

Why mate? You can easily go back to ICS.
if JB is being buggy, you wont regret doing a factory reset... theres a chance these bugs would still be there anyway if you go back to ICS without wiping the phone ;)
 
ok, my phone also updated from ICS 4.0.1 to JB 4.1.1 this weekend. Are you saying that if I factory reset the phone I could go back to ICS???? I would LOVE to do this JB has been crap so far and broke my tethering... How can I go back?

No,an FDR (FACTORY DATA RESET) will not revert your phone back to ICS 4.0.x...

There are numerous posts/threads on how to revert back to ICS,use the search feature for the SGS III forum @ the top of the page.

Ditto for tethering,there are options besides reverting back to ICS,discussed in various posts/threads.

thanks but I must not know how to search correctly cuz I've tried multiple searches using different combinations of keywords and can't find anything specific to this problem, phone and stock jelly bean to remedy the broken tethering?

and it looks like I'm stuck with JB because rooting isn't an option for me I'm too tech dumb.

it sucks that verizon forces us to upgrade the os that's the kind of thing that drove me away from iphones.

I saw your post in the VZW/ALL THINGS ROOT section regarding tethering. The PDA NET+/FOX-FI combination should work just fine. You only have to purchase the FOX-FI license ($7.00) & it should work w/o any issues.

thanks, found another thread with other people having problems, going to give fattin a try and if it doesn't work will do the pdanet+

Just one question regarding tethering the SGS III on VZW:

Unless you have an unlimited plan,isn't the tethering option free/available already?
 
update #2: fuqelkfowebgjwbvowrgjbeoigheo!!!!!!! fattin worked great for about 2 hours and then broke. Same problem as foxfi 4g going on and off. So frustrating. Guess I'll try a factory reset and if that doesn't work will reluctantly pay someone to root the phone because without tethering it's useless to me

very cool but I'm not rooted

update 3: after a factory reset I made sure not to download foxfi and am using the fattin widget, seems to be working fine again bit is NOT as fast of a connection as foxfi gave (that's why I liked it so much) but it's at least working. fingers crossed that solved the problemo

I really don't understand why the internet connection with native tethering is so much slower than it was with foxfi? what a bummer?
