Got my SGSII snatched out of my hand in London last night, chased the guy but lost him so when I got home tried tracking it with lookout.... No luck! Then tried to install Plan B remotely and that wouldn't even install! :( - could it just have no signal or do you think they have reset it or something... is this it for my SGSII?

Most likely pulled the battery, until in a place with no signal, then flashed new info into eeprom to clone another phone. For your sake, I hope this is not the case!

tell me more... what does that exactly mean? is that gonna be really bad on me?

Hi ajh
just wanted to say you have my sympathies. i live in London myself. Just out of interest, where were you and what time did it happen? Were you alone? Was he/she alone and how old were they do you think? Excuse all the questions!
I don't understand currents answer but i hope u find a way to get something from this. Although to be honest I'd be surprised (but pleased!) if you do.
Anyhow ajh please keep us updated.

Thanks david1806 means a lot, it was in Peckham at about 11:30PM, I was alone. The person who took my phone was probably about 25, black male and he was alone. I hope i can get something out of this. & Nope i dont have insurance, i bought the phone outright and used my existing orange SIM. I will of course keep you updated :)

Ouch. My condolences. Have to be careful in that sort of area though especially alone at night, glad nothing more serious happened. Hopefully someone finds a way of tracking it

Hey buddy
11.30 at night in Peckham? Yep, that sounds about right. Can be very dodgy at that time in that area, for sure. I'm almost glad you didn't catch him,i can guarantee he would have been tooled up with a knife.
These motherf#####s can't go out and earn their own money, they have to steal from others to get what they want in life. Sad twats.
Anyway, rant over! Again good luck bro

Nuff said, hope you can get your phone replaced somehow m8.

Pardon my assumption, but doesn't every street in london have cameras on it? (That what it seems like from over here), hopefully (whoever can check) can get some vision.

And was the GPS activated at the time?
Not sure if google can find out the GPS location from when your google account was 'logged out of', seeing as changing the sim (which is guaranteed to be done) logs you out and thus the thief won't be able to access Market etc until a google account is signed in.

Let us know if you get it blocked successfully by IMEI.

I doubt the Police would give a damn tbh. Even if they did the chances of catching the guy are long gone. The phones probably been sold on already.

You are real mad now but that will pass. The police will do nothing as this happens thousands of times a day.

After the anger passes, move on and pay for another device. It is sad but in the end, that is what you will be facing.

Sorry for your loss. Most do not care about theft until it happens to them!

thank you for all your replies everyone, I will take everything you all said into consideration and look into getting myself a new handset! - I tell you what, i will not be alone again in peckham late at night again, anyway as mentioned already at least it was only my phone and not something worse happening - thanks again for your support :)

Chap, sorry to hear about your loss, just remember, it's just a phone.. the most important bit, you, is safe..

May be horse and bolted syndrome, but i can recommend theaftaware for your next handset..

It is fully hidden and even if the scum that nicked the phone replace the sim card, it will still work. It will allow you to track the phone, divert sms messages to and from the phone, even listen in without the thief knowing.. and of course, you can ultimately fully block the phone and remote wipe for safety..

chin up....

+1 to TheftAware , not sure if it was on here I heard about it or another forum but it really is worth the
