Root Myn's 2.2 RLS3

April, could it be that HTC sync is messing with the install??? I know it does when you root...just wondering...

Flyjbaker, got the same error after uninstalling the HTC Sync software, so now I don't know what to do.

Why am I having so many problems with this phone? My Hero wasn't *NEARLY* this labor intensive for a simple ROM swap.

April, excuse me since I have not gone back to reread this whole thread. Did you do a full factory reset as well as all the wiping you mentioned???

Other than that, it looks like you should unroot and then reroot.....

Yes, before I loaded Warm I did a factory reset, then wiped everything in the recovery mode menu 3x. So now I'm kinda stuck. I can't figure out how to get the stock Sprint ROM back on, and the unrooting thread I read seems like it doesn't work a good portion of the time (it was a link to XDA posted in the "Rooting for Dummies" thread). I think right now I'm just going to stick with Warm, because I'm not having any problems (aside from random FC messages about Beautiful Widgets, but it's still there after I clear the error message), and I'm looking into making my own ROM using the kitchen posted over on XDA.

This, on top of the other problems this weekend, just is driving me nuts.

#10 is the new one and it is awesome for me. To be honest with you and I don't know if I am imagining things, but it seems to be getting better with time!!!!

I think 17 is the newest for 3.30 builds, but the numbering scheme has made my head spin.

Ya...#17 is the new one. RLS3 installed with #10. I have #11 on my SDcard and not sure what was running that. I tried Ziggy's 11/14 and it was just as bad as all his others. The HTC kernels seem to be the best for Myn's roms. Not sure what he'll have in RLS4 this week.

OK, so I got the download for the RUU (3.29.651.5 so I can re-root if needed), but it's an exe file, not a zip, so I can't use the ROM Manager to flash it, but when I try to run it through the computer, it starts the "Verifying information on your Andriod phone, please wait ...", then I get the error that "Error 170: USB Connection Error", cannot connect to phone, check that the phone is connected to USB cable (yup) and USB cable is connected to the PC (double yup). I have HTC Sync installed, so what am I missing?

Ok so the first issue is that you are using the RUU file and not a flashable stock ROM. The RUU is used in the unroot procedure.

Here is a link to a stock ROM over on XDA
xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] joeykrim-SDX-original-4.5 Odex *Stock Rooted 3.30.651.2* Oct 27th 2010

This is a 3.30 ROM but since it is rooted you don't need to worry about losing root.

Do the double wipe, flash this ROM. If successful, do a nandroid backup of the stock rom, double wipe again and re-flash Warm.

**EDIT** If you can, skip the ROM Manager for this install and do everything from within recovery. If you are doing your wipes from ROM Manager you may not be getting a good wipe. Some dingleberrys may be left behind. :)

That should do the trick for you.

Yes, RLS 4 beta will be out this week (From the mouth of Myn himself). The final usually comes a week later.
That kernel you are using isn't a good fit. You need the HTC#10. Oh Yea!

Amen to that....I am almost embarrassed with the battery life I have so far with this setup. I have been off of the "teet" for over 24 hours and I still have 52%....absolutely crazy. I think the use has been relatively light but I have hammered on it a little bit with significant Kindle book reading and also significant game play.

Alll these phones are reacting differently or our idea of good batt life is way off from person to person.

Yes you can. In fact, I believe the free/paid version comes with the ROM, but then you need to re-download and install from the market. I forgot which, but do recall it saying I had it, but having to download from market.

It most likely depends on the service area where you are physically located most of the time. My wife and I had the exact same ROM and kernel....she spends her whole workday in a metal building with a poor signal...her battery gets smoked throughout her work day. Mine does extremely well.... I think this is the number one factor in battery burn and almost everybody overlooks it.

Well i've been on Myn's Warm RLS3 for about a week now....loved it! hate the font so i flashed the Sony Sketch font pack with Type Fresh and now everything just looks so amazing! i love this phone even more each day...not to mention since flashing this ROM my battery life has been redonkulous compared to an unrooted stock EVO....i'm loving!! last night, my phone was at 15 hours off the charger with 71% left! i'm not going to explain what i did to make it last that long or anything, send a PM if you're that interested....

I do have one question and it may be a bug with it or maybe i'm just dumb...when rocking out to Pandora while on the harley, if I get a text (using Handcent) and the popup thing shows up, Pandora stops streaming until I find and press the power button to unstick the program.....Pandora never did this before so I am curious if this is a problem with Myn's Warm RLS3
