Root Myn's RLS4

....uninstall adobe flash??????? I don't know. I was under the impression that adobe flash was part of Froyo and that it did not have to be downloaded from the market(I never did but I still have flash). I guess my question is do you need to have the market version of flash on your phone for any reason?...PS...my Hulu works......PSS....I have no idea of what I am talking about!!!!

I need advice... Somehow I accidentally updated the Adobe Flash, and now I cannot use Hulu that came with the RLS4. I tried to reinstall the hulu from sd card via Rom Manager, but still wont load for me...

* I have now, un-installed Hulu, and Flash. Re flashed the Hulu add on from Myn, and installed a backed up version of Flash, still getting ...hulu unsupported on platform.

Don't install any versions of flash. You need to delete whatever is currently there, then flash hulu.

EDIT: And make a nandroid backup next time ;)

I am starting over, I think I did have a nandroid back up, but I forget which version I had backed up.

I am worried now that Ti pro will try to update my flash...

titanium backup will restore whatever version you last backed up, so as long as you didn't set it to automatically back up, and you didn't manually do it since the update, you'll get back whatever you had. Go into the market and make sure you don't have automatic update set for flash (that's what happened to me). You shouldn't have to start over, though. Just delete flash entirely, then flash hulu.

Oh, and you might want to use a different abbreviation :P

Ok, I am now at wit's end... I CANNOT get Hulu to work now.

How on earth can I completely delete Flash & Hulu & reflash from Myn's options?

Ok I finally got it. I was able to figure out how to delete both apps, and then reflashed the Hulu update. life is good.

In an unrelated question... If I flash RA recovery via Rom manager, can I do a nandroid back up from Rom mgr, or do I need to boot into recovery for that?

I'm not a savvy rooter like some people, but i do know that ROM manager will not work with RA...once you flash it, you have to reboot into recovery and do everything yourself...like I said, i'm not a rooter pro, so i just stick with clockwork....

there are issues with WiMax not working when you use clockwork, but i haven't had a problem yet when i go to WiMax areas, and where I live is not one, so even if there is a problem, it doesn't bother me....yet....if they ever get 4G in Ventura county, i will worry about it! i love my phone for everything else, i could really care less for 4g....and i am happy to pay the 10 bucks to help build the 4G network, so no gripe there either!

It's not that clockwork causes wimax problems; it's that clockwork doesn't backup the wimax partition. So, if you do something to mess up your wimax keys, you'll never get them back if you've only made nandroid backups with clockwork. If you make backups with RA, you'll have a backup of the wimax partition in case you ever lose your keys. If you stick with simply flashing things that don't touch that, you'll probably never notice. That being said, I'd recommend that everybody make at least one backup with RA just so that they have that wimax backup just in case.

Oh, and +2 for Ventura county :)

So if'n I do flash RA, then I would have to boot into recovery, and run a nandroid backup manually...?

And If'n I did all that, would I be able to run that from ROM mgr, or have to go back into recovery manually to restore?

Right, you'll need to boot into recovery to both backup and restore. Rom manager does give you the option to boot into recovery, though, so it's not exactly hard. It's still very easy.

My gf seems to be having more problems with Myn's Warm 2.2. I plan on restoring her phone using a nandroid backup we made prior to loading the ROM. My question is do I need to wipe data/factory, wipe dalvik, and wipe cache prior to loading the nandroid backup? I'm guessing no but just wanted to confirm. Thanks

I would wipe it but that is just me. Since you are bailing on the ROM because of an "issue", it would probably be a good idea!

I've been trying to overclock my Evo, which has Myn RLS4, and I'm using the Overclock app. I've had my phone get into a loop reboot, and also my phone would be really sluggish and slow response. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thx, Jeff.

Try overclocking at a lower speed until the issues go away. Not all EVOs respond well to overclocking or overclocking too much.

I removed the Overclock app and reinstalled the SetCPU app. I had it detect the frequency, set also to ondemand and I have the boot check box unchecked. So far, so good ... I'm going to let it run and see what happens. Thanks for the info.

Do all the various cache's get overwritten when restoring from a nandroid backup?

If I were in your situation and I didn't absolutely know for a fact that everything gets overwritten then I would do all the wipes.

It's one of those things that can't cause any harm, takes minimal time and may minimize problems later on. Why not do it?

My one concern is that I want to be able to restore her settings and preferences. Is there a way to save those?

When you do a nandroid restore, you're phone will be taken back to exactly the way it was when you made the backup - data, settings, etc. Any changes you've made since then will be lost regardless of whether or not you wipe cache/dalvik. It really has nothing to do with it.

If you want to save anything newer, data and settings-wise, use titanium backup. Just backup anything newer, then restore just the newer stuff when you're done with the restore. Personally, I'd only do this with apps/app data, and not settings since I've had issues doing that between roms.

Just installed it. Do you know which of the "app" the user/system settings are saved?

After you install it, go to menu->batch. From there you can backup all system data for all your settings, or all user apps for...well...your apps. There is also a batch to do both at the same time. I'd recommend saving sms messages separately with SMS Backup & Restore since some people can't seem to get there messages back with titanium.

Thanks!! One last question when performing a data/factory reset does that actually wipe the OS off the phone? Is this like a reformat on a windows machine? Will I need to reinstall the Clockworkmod recovery?

No, it just wipes data and settings. It takes you back to the way your phone was right after you flashed a new rom. If you want to see what I mean, do it and boot up the phone. It will look like a new phone, but with whatever rom you currently have running.
