Mytouch capable of android 2.1?

fgb729

Newbie
Just wondering if the mytouch is capable of getting it. I heard it is but i am not 100%. I was waiting for the N1 but that pricing nonsense is to much.

If you're a tmobile customer, why not get the N1?

only new customers are eligible for the subsidized rate. Current, upgrade eligible, Tmobile customers have to pay the full $500+ price.

Also, they won't let you use the phone with a family plan.

i had called t-mobile and since i was due for an upgrade i could get the better price. but you can only get it from google not tmobile. tmobile is just the service provider. and there is strictly only one plan. 500 minutes for 80bucks with unlimited text pics and data. i'm already on and unlimited everything so why would i downgrade my plan after 11 years. and i can't justify the 500bucks for the phone by itself.
another thing is that yes you can expand the storage to 32 gigs which is cool but you can't use apps off the sd card. so you only get like 200 megs out of the 512 when you receive the phone.
i am very disappointed with tmobile and the plan there offering

That's what I'm saying Nick79, the phone seems awesome and yea I'd love to have it, but I'm not willing to pay the ridiculous prices for the horrible amount of minutes, or for the phone outright as I'm not a new T-mobile customer. I'm pretty sold on getting the mytouch this weekend.

Why not buy the phone outright and keep your existing plan, it would probably save you money in the long run.

it defenitely will.. you will be broke for the moment.. im sure they are banking on alot of users buying one with there tax returns

If i bought it outright wouldn't i still have to go on the nexus plan, or can i just add web to my existing account?

Well that's nice, but who has that much money to drop on a phone, when i can get a decent one for hundreds cheaper. And if i did have the money idk how i feel about the fact that phones can break, and somewhat easily with all this technology being rushed to be used.

Just as a correction, customers with a single line, that is eligible for an upgrade, dont have to pay full price. they will get the phone for the subsidized price. Also, you will be able to use the phone on a family plan account, however you will not be able to purchase is as an upgrade or add on for your family plan.

all this will change in few months watch.. after the taxes rush, when sales slow down. the phone will become available to all with all plans. IMO

i was in the same boat, but you can add a line to your existing account (if you're off contract and month-to-month) then transfer your old number to the N1 and cancel your old account without any penalty...

Sweet! I think I'll be getting the mytouch then. Thanks for the greetings as well :)

Well, for what it's worth, you could do worse. On the face of it, the N1 looks pretty decent but there are so many unanswered questions in my mind and the fact that I can't see it before I buy it makes a big difference to me. I plan on sticking with my MyTouch for now as I really like it and you know what they say about a bird in the hand.... ;)

I agree. I considered purchasing Motorola Cliq by looking at their promotional page. Good thing I didn't just buy it...
