Root Nand backup not working

I made a NAND backup of my stock 2.2 immediately after i rooted.

Then i messed a few things up, so i went to restore the NAND and it restores in about 30-40 seconds (about a line and a half of dots when i restore, i think thats too fast) and then it reboots into the white HTC evo screen and stays like that forever.
What am I doing wrong and how can i fix it?

I can wipe/reflash because i did it with Fresh which i have on my SD card, but i want my backup back. Any ideas?

try the restore again? If it still doesn't work, I think you're SOL....

I did it like 3 different times. Didnt work..
I flashed Fresh again and ima do another NAND before i start screwin around again. Damn that sucks :(
I swear im cursed and have to wipe my phone constantly.

Try using clockworkmod as your recovery. If you install ROM manager, you can switch between the two with ease. Make a nandroid from each one. Although this is the first time I've heard that a nandroid doesn't restore.....

No joke, NAND is like the last resort and supposed to be what you fall back on when all else fails. Using Amon and Clockwork is a good idea though.

I did the PRL hack (replaced EDST.apk and replaced PRL) and then since the NAND didnt work i just flashed Fresh over, and my ##775# was gone. So the NAND did wipe it all off. It just wouldnt boot up :(

Sometimes, depending on which ROMs you're swapping to and from, you might have to wipe the phone and caches prior to restoring the nand.
 
clockwork nandroids are nice, because you can rename the containing folder and clockwork will still find the nandroid. So I name the folder to my ROM and kernel versions: 2.2-stock-netarchy4.1.7, etc.
