I would like to have your guys opinions as to which is better. Reliability, speed, and ease of restore, all being factors. Plus any additional comments that you may have.

That poll is, if you will give me for saying so, pointless!

It is like asking, "Which do you prefer... Cheese or Tractors?". Vote now.

They are two completely separate entities for two completely separate purposes and both are required in modding.

For more details on Titanium back-up's and restore, as well as nandroid back-up's and restore... see here:-

AndroidNZ: [At Your Own Risk] How to backup your Rooted 'Droid - NANDROID & Titanium Backup

To be honest they both serve different purposes so are both just as important as the other.

A nandroid backup is a copy of your entire phone which can be used if you have problems after you flash a new ROM. So say if a flash causes bootloops or constant force closes you can return your phone to a state where you didn't have the problems.

A titanium backup is used if you want to transfer your apps between roms after doing a full wipe. So this is the backup method you will probably use most often as if you tried to reinstsll your apps using a nandroid you would just replace your new ROM with your old one.

This is a bit like comparing gherkins with grasshoppers.
You really cannot compare the two. They perform very different tasks.
A nandroid (or CWM) backup will back up your handset "as is". Its like a snapshot in time. It will backup your entire /system folder and therefore all the handset's framework etc.

Titanium will back up applications and associated data.

If your handset screws up, you would have to restore to a CWM backup to get yourself up and running. You would not be able to do this with Titanium. If a specific application made your handset to go bonkers and you know which one caused it, then you could restore the app+data, but even so, this would only affect that particular application

Do you have a cheese fetish butty?
I think I know what you will vote for!
:D

Maybe we should start chasing cheese down hills driving tractors!

Hmmmm.....shows how much this newbie knows!!! Well, I do really appreciate the education between "cheese and tractors"!!! :D

Thanks for setting me straight guys

That's the spirit lotsip81! :D

We were all, "noobs", at one time. Although, in my case, you could remove an, "o", and prefix it with a, "k".

Slowing down old boy! :)

As I hit the, "Submit", button... I thought to myself that I should have chosen anything but cheese in my analogy.

I will invite you along to the local downhill, cheese rolling contest one year. It sorts the men from the boys... and eunuchs.

Anyway, it was better than, "gherkins or grasshoppers", since both are edible in my book. :p

It's a long long time, many civilisations ago, that you were a noob ironass

Poor lad getting the 3 of you putting him straight........ I think that cleared up any nandroid/titanium confusion though :)

Ok now, different topic same two programs.

What do you guys recommend for where to have the backups for each program to go, internal sd, or external sd? Is there a right answer or is it just a personal preference? Please state your reasons.....as we all can tell i need the help!!! :D

Titanium Backup - archived to external_sd so that backups are available even if I have to completely wipe the entire handset. I also keep a copy of the /backup folder regularly updated on PC.

Nandroid - external_sd for reasons of space ( I have seven ROMs backed up). Again every one is copied to PC as insurance against disaster.
