Root Nandroids and SD card applications

I was in the process of switching ROMs but I think I botched it by restoring "system apps" using TiBackup (see this post: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/621763-tibackup-restore-hangs.html).

Anyway, I'll try it again next weekend as I need my phone up and running for work so I restored the Nandroid I made just prior to re-flashing. I move a lot of my apps to the SD card so I made sure to include "SD-ext" when making the Nandroid.

I just restored the Nandroid but most of the apps were missing. I had the generic icons for all the missing apps and when clicking it says that app is not installed.

So, I restored my apps using TiBackup and that fixed everything.

However, what am I doing wrong? When I make a Nandroid, I want to be able to restore everything to the way it was...including all apps on the SD card.

Is including "SD-ext" while making the Nandroid not the correct procedure? Thanks.

is your card partitioned? if it is then yes you will need to backup sd ext when making a nandroid backup.

No, it's not partitioned. I'm just using the feature where you can move part of the application to the SD card under settings>applications>manage applications then you click on an app and press the "Move to SD card" button.

How can you make sure all the apps that have been moved to the SD card in the above manner are included in a Nandroid...because I have not been able to get it work yet.

ok that will not work then with what you want. moving the apps to the sd card only moves part of it. the part that is on the card is saved in the android secure. i can't remember if amon ra 2.3 backs that up or not. if you want to have the apps fully onto your card then you need to partition it.

At this point I don't want to move the apps completely to my SD card. I just want to be able to make a Nandroid which will save my apps which are partially on my SD card.

So do I need to select ".android-secure" to get the apps on the SD card in addition to "boot", "system" and "data". I would skip "cache", "recovery", "wimax" and "sd-ext"? Does that sound right?

And Amon RA 2.3 only saves "boot", "system" and "data" as default...I just booted into recovery and checked.

yes do the android secure then as well as the first three marked in amon ra.
