Howdy!

Wanted to notify everyone that I have released 'nds4droid', the first nintendo DS emulator for Android!

Requires a high end android device (Nexus S, Galaxy S, etc). Sound is currently disabled for performance reasons. I'm getting some additional devices next week to see on which ones I can enable it.

I am still working on this and this application is going to get a lot of additional updates over the next couple of months! I'm dedicated to making this a great android emulator. :)

I already spent quite some time working on this and I wanted to get it out there so that I could get some additional feedback.

At the moment, It runs quite a bit of games.

PLEASE NOTE: This application is far from perfect, it's a work in progress! Don't buy it if you don't know what that means. That said, I would really appreciate it if people purchased it and sent in their feedback/comments.

Price is lowered now!

Thanks!

Ikari

Awesome, look forward to seeing where this goes with some updates. I hope your market description is clear that this is a beta, otherwise low ratings will kill your app.

EDIT: OK, just looked at the Market - price point is way off on this one. The right way to sell it when its clearly in beta is with a reasonably discounted rate, whereas yours has the highest price I think I've seen for an Android emulator. I would say if you want feedback lower the price so some people will consider installing it.

$10 is alot for an emulator, i think ill wait a little bit and see how many of the bugs are worked out, then ill probably jump on it. awesome that we have another system to emulate now though =D

To be honest I don't think thats a lot for an emulator, providing the emulator is stable, has sound, and supports nearly all of the software catalogue for the system it emulates. Thats clearly not the case here.

Howdy!

Wanted to notify everyone that I have released 'nds4droid', the first nintendo DS emulator for Android!

nds4droid is NOT the first NDS emu for Android, it is the second. First one is Tiger Labs NDS beta, it was out for a few months now https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tiger.demo.nds (app on Market is not an emulator itself, but an app you can download it with)
Tiger Labs is VERY slow (i guess, nds4droid is not faster though), but free and full-functional. However, it was not updated for quite long time and it seems than it won't be ever updated any more. I hope than yours emulator will be playable some day.

I'm currently working on fixing the problems that people are having with the roms. I'm also adding support for additional roms.

If you see a white/black screen it means the rom is not supported at the moment.

Yes for a perfectly fine emulator $10 is not a big deal but yeah as a tester with 15min return policy I suggest a much cheaper price or even trial version with limited feature ie no saving etc.
In any case, I tried it and got a black screen so I guess I will try more roms.
How about a list of ROMS you know do work?

BTW, using CM7 (gingerbread) with a Captivate (galaxy s) phone here. At 1.5Ghz I am hoping to get decent speed so cant wait to get it working :-)

i tried the emulator... new super mario bros... game loaded up untill white nintendo screen... then nothing..

uninstalled untill proof of this working/list of games.

running 2.2 froyo stock desire, soon to be running miui again so shall test again on the rom when im there

It just makes sense that if you are charging $10 for a non fully working product, at least provide a list of working games so we can see how it works for our phones and it also helps people decided if they want to try it or now based on what is currently working

$10 is a little steep even if it was an extremely mature emulator. For a beta emulator that only works on a handful of games and without sound, $10 is ridiculous. Look at the price of SNESoid, Gensoid, and n64oid to see your competition's pricing.

Well is quite different when it comes to pricing for SNESoid because the are even free alternatives to those programs (besides their own free versions). In the case of DS , N64, PSX...the choices are limited so they can ask for a bit more cash but then again that would be for a WORKING program not this one.

im glad that this has been made since its keeping the android emulator scene buzzing so good work Ikari!
Im sure when all the bugs have been ironed out and its running at full speed everyone will be downloading it but just make sure you make regular updates otherwise we will have another zodttd situation

I'm letting you know right now that as a reviewer I'm refusing to touch this app until its released as a free beta.

Too many devs are hiding behind a "beta" tag as an excuse to publish "first of their kind" apps that only work on the rarest of phones. 15 minutes is not enough time to seek a refund, or even see if it works on your phone. The $10 price point is just a kick in the nuts.

guys lets remember that a lot of work goes into this kind of coding so if everyone carries on with the negative comments eventually nobody will bother doing work on android.
Fair enough its wayyy over priced and im sure the dev now knows that, so hes most likely going to change the price (i hope)
but lets not scare away all potential devs with straight up negative comments since im hoping for an eventual psp, ps2, gamecube emulators

Good point and I agree as a fellow emulator lover here :)

I dont mind payin $10.... as long as it works? I will be patient before leaving feedback! Hopefully there will be another update soon... Thanks for the emulator Ikari!!

Pushed an update that allows you to run a lot more roms (eg: Pokemon, Mario Kart). Performance is also improved in this build.

Much appreciated Ikari! two updates in one day! so much potential for an emulator which was believed to be impossible by sceptics! glad to see a lot of people being proved wrong!!!

I would rather developers know that we aren't going to put up with attempts to gouge us for unfinished products than them trying to.

Will this be plagued by so many bad reviews that it will need to be pulled until a better working version is available? $10 is kinda high for a work in progress, finished product however it is not.

The problem is you don't want to charge for a beta then charge again for the final product. If you lower the price now then later raise the price many people will get it at the lower price. You can create a free beta and the release again at the $10 price mark once finished, however the last version of the beta will still be on many people's phone...and there will be backlash when you release the fnal product. I would suggest releasing a free version that is ad supported, gets updated slower than the paid version (lets face it paying customers deserve more), and perhaps has limited features such as no save states if you already have save states in the paid version.

I am glad to see this being developed, gives me hope for the future of Android gaming.
