Neat ROM

You seem to be stuck on media scanner.
If you have made any cwm backups in dup format, make sure you have a .nomedia file in the clockworkmod folder as dup format creates thousands of files within blobs folders which can drastically slow down the media scanner service.

It is good practice to create .nomedia files in any folder you don't want apps like gallery, music player etc. to scan inside. Remember this is recursive so all you need to do is create one in the top most level that you require, so no need to create in all subordinate sub folders.

If you have a .nomedia file in the clockworkmod folder then you need to clear out media cache. I've written a zip to do this which I could dig out for you tomorrow if you need it.

Blimey a technical answer I already knew! I believe this is a Linux thing rather than an Android thing as my Debian based N900 (still messed with, a great device) does exactly the same thing with exactly the same solution.

Freezing the native music player, using another, like PowerAmp also stops this happening as long as you set Power Amp to look only in your media folders

Now that Im on Sale's JB, this is the first time I've been happy with my phone since GB days. My contracts up for renewal in February and I'm probably going to keep the S2 after then as I dont feel the need for something different - I never thought I'd hear myself say (type) that!!!

Yes ES Explorer will do it.
Once you have a .nomedia file, you can just copy+paste it into all other required folders using windows explorer.

ES explorer says Operation Failed Please use a Different Name? Do I need to alter permissions or anything?

I've an issue where I click a gmail notification and it closes the notification screen but fails to take me to the email. It doesn't occur everytime but hey if its a quick fix...

Hello and thanks Sales for all your efforts and help!

I am having that problem (bug?) with lock screen that keeps frozen for a while befor I can unlock the phone.

What should I install in order to correct this problem?

Thanks my friends!

Hate being a pain in the ass Sale but the fix for the skip songs didn't work for me... I use the google music app by the way.

Just bought Root Explorer & in Clockwork mod there is already .nomedia file?

put a .nomedia folder inside every main folder you've got. CWM is usually the main culprit for the media scanner to go crazy because of the thousands files in the massive "Blobs" folder. However apps like Sat Nav have thousands of folders and files in a parent folder too.

It is a bind to do I agree, and as far as I know the SGSII never did this before JB, but it should work. Your problem is media scanner I'm sure, as I said my N900 did exactly the same thing if you forgot to put a .nomedia folder in. It would sit their for hours scanning all the folders looking for media files while it drained the battery.

You didn't need to buy root explorer to tell you that. You could have used My Files or your pc.

True Hawker, but this ageing XP machine won't let me make a folder with the first character "." and when I tried using "My Files" it just went back to showing the folders on my SD card without making a new one (odd). Of course cozins17 could copy and paste using "My Files", but I presumed he didn't have one to copy.

I've not got the Vista (spit ! Spit !) lappy fired up so I can't check that, but I'm pretty sure that's the same.

Got "My Files" to make a ".nomedia" folder (I turned "show hidden files" on -DOH!) , get your cash back from Google cozins17, you need it more than them !

Now for real, there are only selected countries testing Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy S II The Open Europe is ready so far we know... #sgs2

Always know when Samsung are about to release new firmware. It usually coincides with the time I get my phone set up just the way I like it.......

I have a slight problem. When I press the call button on the homescreen, it takes 3-5 seconds to open the dialler. I dunno what is causing this :( Same with the Contacts as well. Ideally, it shouldnt take more than 1-2 seconds...Anyone else with this problem? Whats the solution???? :(
