Root Need a new Rom

So my phone has been running like poop lately... super slow and I think it is time for a change, I rooted my phone back in Sept and have been using FlyX, but from what I read there is no longer any support for FlyX?

I am thinking about factory resetting my phone tonight and rerooting.

What is the best way to undertake this process?

What steps should I take once that is done?

What will i lose in this process?

What Rom is the most stable one now? I just want my phone to work well.

thanks

Your best bet is to use maderstok zip ....it will set your phone back to how it came when it was out of the box and up to date ....you will lose root but once you apply the zip and reboot you can just reroot and reinstall bootstrap .....then make sure you make a backup of your stock rom then all you have to do is install your rom of choice ....I recommend apex 1.4.1 or darkslide .....here is a link with a download link and instructions to the maderstok zip
maderstcok - OTA 2.3.340 update.zip

wanna try something thats super fast, great battery life, no glitches and is real smooth? Try the 3.4.2 build. Its actually quicker then anything i've used so far. I've been running it with the honeycomb theme for a few days and can honestly say that it is remarkable. I don't think any roms have been built off it but hopefully someone will soon.

Droid X Monster Updater 3.4.2 zip
imoseyon: Universal Zip (imoseyon mods)

there's all you need plus imoseyon's tweak zip. Enjoy =]

Z4 for the root, worked for me and it was my first time rooting a droid.
Give Darkslide a try, IMHO it runs smoother than others I have tried, my device didn't like apex, but YMMV.
+1 on the Maderscok, works perfectly, but you WILL have to re-root and your device will need to be reactivated with *228 if on Verizon. (it will be set to factory new settings, as if right out of the box)

reaaaaalllllyyyyyy????? you say????
innnnnteerrresting.....
bookmarked your links....grassyass....gracias....uh....thanks bro!:D

I used maderstock and it looks like nothing was changed on my phone? It said installed successfully and then after I rebooted it, it looks the same and I did not have to do *228?

install fission 2.6.1
during install:
go in to recovery, advanced: wipe battery/delvick
back out to main: wipe data/cache (factory reset)
chose zip: install fission 2.6.1
reboot
in android go to settings/privacy/factory reset
- once done and back in android again, reboot once more
then let google/google market install all your contacts and apps fresh....DO NOT use any kind of back up to restore.

have a nice day....lol :)
(just my opinion)

I should preface it to say, that it looks like I lost root, but that is it? what do i do now?

Should have wiped data when you installed the zip ....go into stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset ....reboot sign in, reroot, reinstall bootstrap, make a backup and install a rom

Factory wipe with the Home/Power button thing right? I get sent to some bootstrapper screen... looks like MS DOS, white lettering with no option to do anything when I try the home/power button maneuver.

It says

Bootloader
2C.6C

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

Yes home and power should bring you to stock recovery .....volume down power and camera should bring you to bootloader (where you are now ) ....and it should say bootloader 30.04 after using madersrok zip

i am at the screen:

Bootloaded
30.04
Err:A5,70,00,00,2F

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

What do I do? It doesn't seem I can get to the reset from here?

When you power on the phone start by holding home and power until you see a triangle with an exclamation point ......when you see this press the hard search key and now your in stock recovery ....scroll to data wipe/ factory reset and select it ....then reboot

I power off phone, hold power and home, and i end up at the screen that I explained further up. It doesnt give me a triangle with an exclamation point. It just puts me on that black screen with white lettering.

This is most odd ...should just bring you to stock recovery ....ok we will go about this another way .....reroot ,then reinstall bootstrap ....go into clockwork recovery and wipe data ....then backup and decide what rom you want and install it

Lol . I just wanted to know if you found any bugs. I'm going to start working on it again.

its great, really enjoy it. And with the vibrate option missing from the lockscreen it really makes my friends believe I'm running Honeycomb on my X. The only things that should be fixed is the green loading bar in the browsers and instead of using Blue and White 3G icons, use a Blue 3G with white arrows icon. I think that'd really bring it together.
