Root Need a rom kernel combo

Sorry it took so long. Apparently we weren't going home after dinner and I'm gonna attempt to offer advice in between stops :p

So give me a quick update. The phone is still s-off but fully boots the stock Rom?

And you are having trouble getting into the recovery because the pc36img put the stock ROM and recovery on the phone.

You should be getting a red triangle if its the stock recovery and you try to boot into it.
 
The amon ra file that was linked needs to be changed to PC36IMG.zip and placed on the root of the sd card. This means not in any subfolders. If the above are done correctly your hboot will find the file when you reboot into it and ask you to update.


Once the recovery is installed, the PC36IMG.zip can be deleted off of the SD card and it won't affect anything

No sweat. I quit to grab a bite and had to run to the inlaws for a few. I'm back and will appreciate your time when you can give it.

That's what I'm getting. I installed amon ra and tried 2 different nandroids. One made after the evo bricked and the other from back in january. Both of them get me a brick again.

So my next goal is to get a decent ROM on here and then try to salvage what I can from the most recent nandroid. I hope i hope.

Doing this for the third time now. The last two times I followed up with nandroids that didn't work.
 
The good news is as long as you can get to recovery your phone is not truely bricked. Once you flash a new Rom in there you should be good to to. Getting the info off your nandroids can be done but is a little trickier to do
 
hunting for my next ROM right now. Looks like I'm going to go for the latest Mik. Do you have any suggestions? Doesn't look like ICS has everything working yet. Made another nandroid so I don't have to jump through the same hoops as the last two times.

If you want sense based go with either mikg3.11 full wipe version or tommys EVO classic. If you want aosp go with decks reloaded.
