Root Need assistance returning bootloader to factory

specv44

Lurker
Hi guys, picked up my Evo 4G saturday afternoon, and rooted it Sunday afternoon. I am one of the few 2.3.3 Evo users, apparently. Here is my issue, I have had SERIOUS reception issues since I took the phone out of the box (brand new) and I had hoped rooting it would help (didnt) so now I am setting back to factory so I can go swap phones.

I already removed clockwork recovery and have been set back to the factory unrooted rom (no superuser app/icon), the issue that I am having is that I cannot set S from S-OFF to S-ON and cannot figure out how to remove Revolutionary bootloader (return to factory).

Phone was rooted through command prompt using revolutionary.exe, but the S-ON tool says my radio is unsupported so I cannot go back to S-ON that way. UnrEVOked3 and UnrEVOkedForever didnt work with my phone because I am 2.3.3.

How can I revert from Revolutionary to factory bootloader?

This is my boot screen:

-Revolutionary-
SUPERSONIC EVT3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.16.1002
MICROP-041F
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.05.02
Mar 8 2011, 17:02:15

HBOOT

<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item

FASTBOOT
RECOVERY (does not work anymore since I removed Clockwork)
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB

Thanks guys!

unfortunately as far as right now goes you can't get s-off to s-on right now. all you can do to unroot by installing a stock recovery and stock rom. you will still have s-off but i think that sprint will not care too much. the instructions on how to do this is in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html sticky.

Damn, I was afraid that there was no way to remove it. Any idea what the chances are that they will bootload the phone in an attempt to figure out my signal issue?

i believe that you should be ok. as long as you have stock recovery i don't think that they will care. especially a signal issue. try calling sprint first and see if they can do something over the air. you might not need to take it in.

Went to the local sprint store twice last night, talked to them for about an hour. They said that since I bought it at a corporate store they cannot exchange it for me, but to take it back to the store I bought it from and they should do an exchange since it is only 4 days old. I will see what they say.

Thanks for all your help

Also, I am unsure if something is wrong or not, but when I boot and select recovery, it changes screens comes up with a phone and a green arrow, then switches to a phone with a red triangle. Is something wrong? I never looked around in recovery until I had installed clockwork :/

nevermind, all is good. Sprint store ran some signal tests on the phone and it failed so they swapped me out for a new one. New one has been rooted again using revolutionary.exe 0.4pre4.

Feel free to delete this thread to clear clutter if need be.
