Root Need Custom Recovery Help

Hello all. Firstly I'd like to say that I am a newbie only to android. With that said, I follow instructions very well :-). Anywho, I'm having a problem getting a custom recovery flashed. I haven't found any clear step by step instructions anywhere. Instructions are scattered. I have the Android SDK ready to go. I need help with the adb commands. I found some, but it's written assuming you are familiar with adb and custom recoveries and I am not. I'm already rooted. Used z4root. Thanks in advance! ;-)

i followed that one. after typing the first line, it returned with a msg saying something about not being permitted. i'll have to do it again to get the exact return msg. also, what does this, "terminal type this from root # su shell" mean?" what is su shell? Thanks!! :-)

Never mind that.

If you have ADB and know how to use it then open a terminal to where ADB is and type "adb shell"

You should have a "$" prompt

Then type su, this should give you a "#" prompt meaning you have root.

Then proceed with the other steps in that tutorial.

You don't have to type the # that's in the code he has posted. The # is already there. For instance, just type "mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system" not "# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system"

If you don't get that, then you don't have root.
