Root Need help / advice on activating a rooted Evo 4G

I sent my OG Evo to my son after I upgraded to the Ltevo.

Cleared everything and installed Decks Reloaded.

Sent him to Best Buy but they couldn't get though the activation process. They said the ##blah blah blah sequence doesn't return the numbers needed but tries to make a call in the dialer.

Came back here and found that it needs to be a Sense ROM for teh activation.

Cleared phone again and flashed Energy_3.15.2012 Sense ROM.

Kid went back to Best Buy and they still can't activate it. Same thing, they say they can't get the activation procedure to work so no luck.

Am I missing something? Are the people at Best Buy incapable of doing this ? Should I my son go to a Sprint store?
Can this be done online at all?

Any help is greatly appreciated !!

It has to be a stock rom for the evolution. Try swagged out stock or Mike g3.11 and u should be good to go.

So,, not just ANY Sense ROM as I read elsewhere on this site? It has to be a stock ROM?

Also, I want to keep root !! Which version should I flash?

I don't think you can use sense 3.0 or 3.5. You can flash Mike g 3.11 or Tommy tomatoes and it should activate.

It has to be a sense Rom that originated on sprint. The Rom you installed is sense 3.5 and ported from verizon so the sprint activation codes wont work.

Anything less than sense 3.5 will work fine.

I believe what you linked is a theme. Just look for tommys classic, mikg 3.11, SOS, ect.

I finally found a working download link for MikG 3.11, as I like that a bit better.

Log into sprint and select activate phone. It will prompt you to enter in your device. It will then ask for the esn # (found on the phone under the battery). There's a few more steps but I don't remember all of them. Its fast and only takes like 5 minutes.
