Root Need help from someone who is rooted...

I somehow, totally by accident, inadvertently deleted some important files from /system/bin last night and now my phone won't boot.

Would anyone who is rooted be willing to help me get a system image off their phone? Its pretty easy, and won't damage your phone if you do it.

I would greatly appreciate it.

Let me know if you are willing to help me out. Once I can get the phone back up I can finish my auto-rooted kernel with (hopefully) working CWM.

Thanks!

I have a system dump for the stratosphere. email me at scott.freedman at gmail.com and I you a link to my dropbox
I will be buying a stratosphere this weekend now that you have it rooted.

I'm back up and running now. Thanks!

I was just looking up to see if this was what you needed.
if you are really working on a kernel can I ask that you allow ip tables or whatever its called that allows wireless tether to work.
i would rather have that than over clocking

Yeah, please try to allow wifi tethering in infrastructure mode.

And overclocking would be fantastic too. ;)

Many devices don't support connecting to networks in ad-hoc mode. It's a known issue and the only way to fix it is to use an infrastructure access point instead. Devices with the problem include Nintendo DS models as well as other Android devices. It is a very arbitrary limitation but it exists nonetheless.

Hi guys,

I am all set with the root. However, I might have been a bit hasty in deleting apps, and now I am stuck with this awesome error. It doesn't allow me to get onto the market, nor does it allow me to run much without bothering the piss out of me.

If I could get a system image or list of apps from a properly working rooted phone, I would greatly appreciate it. I am going to go through and manually install whatever is missing.

Do you think that this would be the best method of attack?

Thanks in advance,
Jazzy

You're in luck!

This is what I used to flash myself back when I screwed up:
factoryfs.rfs - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Flash it with heimdall using the --factoryfs tab.

I'll try to run that. Your help is greatly, greatly appreciated.

I flashed it with Heimdall and all seems to be well. No more force close warnings!!! Thanks so much for the help!

i need some help bfinishing the root processim stuck at the step after the phne reboots and i dont knw what the problem is....yes im a newbie help please

this "factoryf.rfs" isnt really factory because its rooted
I had an updated su binary and when I reflashed thisi had to re update the binary.

sooo
how did you make this seems like we could use heimdall to make an almost nandriod. I count figure it out.

Yeah, I am aware that this is a rooted factory fs instead of a unrooted one. however, that is the only difference is the su binary and SuperUser.apk. Once you flash it, you can manually remove them if you want to go back to stock.

I am in need of desperate help. The root worked but for some reason it restarts and I have tried to set it back to the stock kernel but Heimdall will not detect it. I can turn it on and put it into download mode. If you can help, that would be great :)

ok so how can I use heimdal to make a copy of my current "factory fs"
so if I need to I can reflash my stuff with root (newere su and binary)
samba server
root explorer and a bit of bloat removed.
I know it wont be a real nandroid backup but it could save me from my stupididty.
and what thte hell is a pit file. something to do with partitions but what

Easiest way to make backups (which is how I the factoryfs.rfs image was made that saved me) is described in this thread over on xda. It works with our phones because it has the same partition structure as the charge.
