Root need help rooting evo

need help here been trying to root my evo and its not working tried unrevoked but it wont detect my phone also tried autoroot same thing happen. my pc can detect it. Im lost here any help is appreciated.


heres my phone info if anyone cares

android 2.2
baseband 2.15.00.11.19
kernel 2.6.32.17-gee557fd
software 3.70.651.1

Did you install the hboot drivers? Is HTC Sync installed (if so uninstall it)? Are you setting your Evo to "charge only" and not to "disk drive"?

yea hboot install. htc sync install then uninstall for driver purposes. i set my evo on charge only with debugg on
 
Remove HTC Sync completely from your PC and make sure your AV (anti-virus) is turned off if you have it...

Try running Unrevoked again and see if it picks it up now.
 
Go to your device manager. What driver is loaded for your phone? Does it say Android 1.0? Make sure you download the drivers from the Rooting for Dummies thread. Once you have them installed, all you have to do is enable USB debugging and run unrevoked.

it says android ADB interface and just to clarify i did uninstall it and install agian no go :(
 
Try and reboot the phone while plugged into the pc or as a last resort factory reset the phone(you will lose all personal data doing this).

doesnt work. i also try this on another xp computer, still a no go. i'm out of ideals now. help!!!! oh i also try to sync the evo to htc sync it also says cant find it. dont know if that helps but just throwing infos out there. when running unrevoked htc sync is uninstalled.
 
i'm not sure but have you tried it on a windows 7 computer. it should work on an xp. just trying to come up with answers or solutions. maybe try a different usb cable. what about your sd card. is it stock?

i will try to find a window 7 computer. my sd card is stock
 
ROOOTTED!!!!!! finally im rooted :D. heres what i did went to my sister's house and use her computer and voila rooted. i guess it got sumthing to do with my computer dont know but it works so im happy now. so heres a solution for those who were stuck like me :D. now that im rooted can anyone recommend a stabe rom and kernel combo :D

Tiamat (if you're running an AOSP ROM)

The best advice I can give you is to make a nandroid backup and give them all a try!
