Root Need help today!!!!

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. I have a friend that is in need of my help fixing his Droid X. Basically, (my backround) I have a original Moto Droid which I have rooted and am very familiar with the root, rom, kernal process. He called me this last week and asked me about rooting his X, I tried to talk him through as much as possible, and referred him to this wonderful site, but alas:(... he fragged it.

This is where he stands. He called me an told me that he had successfully rooted it (please realize that I have never actually had this phone in my hands) but apparently he HAD the superuser icon so I'm assuming that it was rooted. Then he tried to load a rom, and has now called me saying he thinks he has a bricked phone. Again, my background is only dealing with the OG droid, so I am not positive, but from what he is explaining to me, I think there is hope.

He said that the phone will go through proper boot sequence, powers on/ white "M" symbol/ red droid eye/ and the phone boots up. At this point, his screens come up, and he HAS the taskbar with the date, time, and battery icon at the top. THAT IS IT.... nothing shows on his screens, if he presses his menu button NOTHING just 3 blank screens with a task bar.

So my question is, can someone please help me fix this for him. I am assuming that there is a way to load another rom onto his SD card and restore from there. Does anyone have a link to a X file that may work. Or is there a better way to do this on a X? Being as I do not have an X myself I am looking for some advice on a down and dirty way to fix this for him.
Lastly, please assume I need the "help for dummies version" as that he lives more than an hour away from me and I do not want to make this an major ordeal, so if He has trouble after he leaves me I can refer him to this link.

Thanks so much,
Regards

Are you familiar with flashing SBF file? I believe that is the only thing he can do now. I will attach the link to the instruction, so it should be good to go.

seeing that you dont have the phone in hand and he is a long way off i suggest you advise him its time for a do-over. By downloading a couple files and doing what is referred to here as an SBF you can easily put the phone back to its original factory condition. To make it even more simple send him this youtube video to follow. You need just two files (sbf and RSDlite 4.9) and its just a few clicks and wait.

Once he has the phone working again, do the root thing over. It would help to know which ROM he was loading in order to provide advice on the installation of that particular ROM.

THIS is why I swear by this site.
15 min & problems solved:D

I'm on it guys,& thanks so much..

Realizing this is after the fact, the screen will do that if you remove too many motoblur apps, such as the home app. Mine did that when I was futzing with removing apps and it would do what the OP said, and momentarily, there would be a blue message box that would come up saying "This is not a motoblur device". Could be related, had to SBF to fix it, though, since I couldn't navigate anything when that happened.

It's always a friend! LOL JK. This truly is a wonderful place and I'm glad you were able to get things solved Hothead.
