ok, so I am lost here. I flashed a recovery last night (from aug, mainly stock). Installed the QTA's now my phone says it is rooted but, su is not any granting permissions. Any ideas what I messed up?

I can't even boot into recovery at the momdent.

Any help and you will become a droid god in my eys. ;)

What does QTA stand for? Also what is su? If I new what these were are then I could probable help.

if you were rooted, and then did the ota updates, it broke your root. if you got updated to vzc, you have to get z4root and reroot. you can pay for it in the market, or sign up at xda forums and download it there...just have to transfer to the root of your sd card and run it. universal androot no longer works since the vzc update(unless it has been updated)

Here is a link to download Z4Root
z4root.1.3.0.apk

Also To my knowledge Z4root is Completely gone from the Market. You can not buy it either.
I just looked for it and came up with Bubkis.

I used a backup in Clockwork and then applied the OTA's. I have tried 4z to reroot and it flashes a error message then reboots. The message is so fast I can't read it.

I have finally got the right version of z4 root, however I don't believe it is working to root the phone. It says it will install busybox when it finishes and it has not done that. :(

you may have to install busybox first, never had that issue. did you flash all the way back to completely stock and do this? or did you use a recovery? if you used a recovery, its possible there's a corruption in your recovery that's stopping it from working. best bet if you havent already done it is to flash the original firmware and recovery

or find swc's thread about doing it his way...ive read that it works well, just havent tried any other way than what's in the link i just posted

without adb on your pc, and without the drivers installed, the easier way is swc's...but like i said, i never used it, so its up to you....swc can also help you i'm sure if you have questions about his method.

Figured it out guys, had to unistall all apps that reguried Root, the use 4z and then install busy box seperate. Thanks for all the help
