Root need some explination for this 2.3 stuff

okay i have been rooted for awhile, and on CM7 release since it hit, i have haD LITTLE TIME TO KEEP UP WITH FORUMS, and tonight i see all of these threads concerning 2.3/update , so on and all... what am i missing out on? my phone says im on 2.3, i fixxed my gps, had an issure with wifi tether too, fixed that too, so can anyone please PM me, what i am missing on my phone? I use wimax very little since it hasnt been available in my area last time i checked, but wimax seemed to work when i would travel... anyone to help i appreciate ie

Hey friend the short answer is not much .

The 2.3 update was the official update from sprint and htc that gave us sense on 2.3. Before 2.3 was aosp meaning if you had it it was because it was from google source and someone developed it other than htc and it did not have the sense over lay which htc owns among whatever else sprint adds like bloatware . If you want sense back on 2.3 then flash a new rooted version of the ginger sense (what we call the newest gingerbread with sense) rom. If you are interested there are plenty of threads around here for that. Cyanogen also dropped an RC of 2.3.4 recently, you have been using 2.3.3 and that is also what the ginger sense roms are. You can check out the rom and kernel download page for all the latest roms. Its a sticky thread at the top of the forum...

I'd do a nandroid and flash MikG, Kings Alliance, or the new Kingdom Rom. Hell try all three. They are 2.3 with the new sense 2.0 and a few aspects of sense3.0. They're pretty good roms!
I've actually begun to use sense again. I used Launcher Pro exclusively since my Hero days, so going back to sense is a big deal for me. I don't mind using it for the time being.

Alright then, i love what my phone is atm, First Blood with an accidental red remix i cant seem to seperate, but hell, its all red and black, i dont have any problems with it, Really appreciate the no nonsense answer there too man, sometimes people answer without realizing some of us cannot afford to immerse ourselves into this "hobby" or whatever you may choose to call it. Although i am lookng forward to the next few months of free time to catch back up with you brainiacs......, in fact, after writing this reply, i am itching to do some nandroids, wiping and trying some new stuff out, is this stuff like lays potato chips, or crack??? thanks again evo

lol, a little like both


the only thing you have really missed would be the roms with the new sense - sense 2.1 from the desire hd/ evo shift with elements of sense 3.0 from the evo 3d.

stock evo 4g came with sense 1.0 and the new update that sprint released kept the evo on sense 1.0
