Root Need to change HBoot version to install a new Rom

My HTC EVO V 4G is rooted and s-off. It's JuopunutBear HBOOT 1.57 with MeanROM ICS .

Now I want to flash the 4.2 AlienDroid Rom in this thread

It says"You need root + s-off, you also need a hbooot lower than 1.57 for virgin mobile"

When I go back to JuopunutBear website to check HBoot version it says

"HTC EVO 3D cdma (shooter)
GB HBOOT - 1.50.5050
ICS HBOOT - 1.58.5858
ICS VM HBOOT - 1.57.5757"

So what should I do now if I want to change to 4.2 AlienDroid Rom? Do I need to somehow switch back to a lower version of stock HBoot or flash JuopunutBear HBoot 1.5?

Thank you for response.

Really there is no lower hboot version for Evo V. Both the initial release and the update used 1.57.0000.

Go with the Juopunutbear 1.50.5050 hboot. That is the one that will let you flash aosp roms, and basically any rom except stock ICS roms.

Edit:
Double Ninja'd!!!

The JBear 1.50.5050 hboot on the unlimited.io website won't flash on the Evo V though. You can get a version that will from here.

Out of curiosity why won't it flash? Is it just because the android-info.txt isn't specified for both cid's?

Yes.

They've added both CID's to the 1.57.5757 VM and 1.58.5858 Sprint version but not to the Sprint GB 1.50.5050 hboot on their website.

You mean this one "PG86IMG_JBear_1.50.5050_hboot_GB.zip - [Click for QR Code] (355.8 KB, 521 views)" ?

And I just follow the guide here? Unlimited.IO

There are two things about the guide,

1. I only have Win7 64bit, do I have to install or switch to another compatible system? (Anyway to work around?)

2. I had already done "wire trick" when I installed the the Jbear 1.57 and is S-off now, so do I have to perform Step 3 again?

Or do you have links to other guides so that I can downgrade my Jbear 1.57 to 1.50?

Thank you sincerely.

Win7 64 bit should work fine and no you don't have to do anything else, just put the new hboot image on the root of your card. :)
