A friend of mine had her EVO rooted by an 'old friend' who is no longer in the picture. S-OFF is still set. We don't know what was used to root the phone. How can we get her phone back to stock unrooted status?

it is a two step process:
1.flash s-on
2.install stock rom and stock recovery via a PC36IMG file.
just follow the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide. there is a section for unrooting. any other questions feel free to ask.
