Root Need wireless tether help

I'm about to move from Tucson up to Flagstaff and won't have internet up there. I have been using wireless tether because my internet is down right now. I've had no problems until a day after I set up bluetooth tether. It says that my phone is in an unknown state and to try reboot. After I get it going, my computer connects but with no internet access. Turn it off, go back to wifi, connects but no internet access. I have cleared data and everything but still can't get internet access. Anyone have any ideas?
 
I wish I could help you bubba, but I have never used Bluetooth, and have no interest in using Bluetooth.

May I ask why you're using Bluetooth? Does your computer have a wireless router? If so then Bluetooth is unnecessary. All you need to do is turn on Wireless Tether, and if you're computer has a wireless router installed it will see it.

But you should already know this since you said you've used it before, so again I ask... why are you using Bluetooth exactly?

I wanted to see if it would be faster and it was.

That's what I was using and won't work. Barnacle won't work either.
 
Bluetooth is faster than a wifi connection?

Your computer might not be able to connect to an Ad Hoc network. Some nics are picky like that (My Wii can not connect to an Ad Hoc connection).

Wireless tether uses infrastructure. Worked great. Bluetooth was steadily fast for torrent downloads. But now I can't use ad hoc, infrastructure, or bluetooth. It connects but with no internet access.
 
Oh I think I know what you're talking about now. You get that little yellow triangle with the exclamation point in the middle of your internet logo in the bottom right hand corner of your screen? Yeah mine pops up from time to time as well, I really have no idea why. There is no ryhme or reason, it just happens sometimes. All I do is turn the Wifi Tether on my phone off, then back on, and usually it connects again after that. On a few occasions I might have had to do a battery pull, and/or power off my computer then turn it back on again.

It's never stayed like that for long. I'm unsure why it does it too. But mine has always come back. One thing, make sure that the secure connection setting isn't turned on in Wifi-Tether. It doesn't work since the update to 2.2.1.
