No, the reason that the phones won't update (I believe I said this somewhere, but I can't remember where) is because after disassembling the LG Update software, I saw something...
LG contacts the server with your phones IMEI and serial, and stores it into a database which then checks to see which version you're on, so despite whether or not you update from a zv8, to zva then restore the zv8 if you don't have a nandroid of the zva you're not going to be able to get it.
Once you update using LG's tool that's it. You won't be able to do anything further due to the software performing that server check, and while it's true that I could probably have a few friends take a look at it with me,a nd find a workaround by the time we could do that we could get a list of all the stock roms up on the main Stock Rom Release Thread so there's no sense in breaking copyright laws, and risking LG suing me and them when we could go about it in a way which they can't do a damn thing about it.
I'm about 100% sure that I said the above reason in the stock rom release thread, but look around and you'll find it if it's not there.
It's a really interesting read to see how LG Jew'd (No Offense) us out of updates.
