Help Netflix HDMI?

I've had my Evo since january, but it's been pretty bone stock since then. I got the netflix app the other day, to try it out since I bought an HDMI cable to connect my phone to my TV. Silly me, I thought that it would just plain work (I mean, what's the point of having an HDMI out that won't play movies and such?). Turns out it doesn't, and I need full HDMI mirroring. But it seems that I can't do that, if I've never rooted and did the OTA upgrade to 2.3.3? Is that correct?

yep you can't use the hdmi mirroring unless you are rooted. and unfortunately there is no current way of rooting gingerbread just yet. here is why:You Can't Root Your Gingerbread 2.3.3. Evo....Just Yet
