Netflix not working on Galaxy Tab?

Doesn't work on the WiFi only model. The app does the same thing the build.prop edit does...no video but audio works. If Netflix was a music app, this would work lol.

You rooted UB? (prolly silly question, lol)

My boss has the 3g but it won't let him sign in at all, as soon as he hits submit it closes, doesn't give the FC pop up but apparently that is what its doing. It works perfectly on his rooted og droid but he hasn't rooted the tab.... yet

Yeah it's rooted but running the stock ROM. I think the build.prop fix works on some of the 3G galaxy tabs but it looks like it is dependent on the ROM it's running. I'm not sure off hand what version the Overcome ROM is for...but I keep hearing success stories with that one.

For the rest of us...no dice. Sucks that my Galaxy Tab and Thunderbolt can't run it but it runs fine on my kid's NookColors running Phiremod ROM. WTF?

No doubt. Lol. It keeps fcing on my inc and that's one of the phones its supposed to run on!

And can't even get it logged on with bosses galaxy tab. Really like the app from xda, don't need root. Gonna have to put this on daughters NC

The most recent official netflix version says this in the changes section: "Removed check that prevented attempt to playback on unsupported devices."

I wonder if they were having trouble with this even on the officially supported devices so they had to disable the check, and I wonder if that means that sideloading the apk will work now on the galaxy tab. I'll try it later tonight...

Definitely let us know. I'm on a train and won't be able to check it out for a couple days. Would be nice if it worked.

I did get it to start up though. It just closed itself every time I tried to sign in.

No luck, unfortunately.

I used Ti Backup to save the APK from my EVO and then copied it to my Galaxy Tab (cdma version, latest OTA, froyo, not rooted) and installed it. It exits immediately after a successful login. The only other thing I can think of trying is restoring the data from my EVO to the galaxy tab with ti backup, maybe it will somehow trick the app into running, but I don't have my galaxy tab rooted and z4root doesn't work anymore after the latest OTA.

Minor rant here... I'm just really annoyed that it has taken this long to get netflix on ANY android devices and that some existing devices (including the galaxy tab perhaps) will never be supported officially. It's a shame that I have to use it on my little EVO when I have my 7" tablet sitting next to me. Netflix has said that the reason the android client took so long is because the content providers would not agree to it because it's not as "secure" as Apple's devices and they thought people would rip the streams. They're either really naive/stupid (likely) or this is a bullshit excuse. Apple devices can be "rooted" too, and in any case nobody cares about ripping media from Netflix. Anything on netflix is OLD, so anything on there has already been available on bittorrent sites and usenet for months or years and in better quality (netflix quality is good but it's not better than high bitrate dvd or blueray rips).

I wouldn't be suprised if Apple had something to do with the delay in one way or another. Netflix's presence on the iphone and ipad has helped sell a lot of devices. I doubt that Apple paid Netflix or struck a private exclusivity deal with them, but they probably presented their platform to the media companies that own the content and convinced their non-techie executives that Apple's platform was safe/secure and that Android was not and would just open the door for rampant piracy.

I'm in Canada, and the Netflix app isn't available for me for my 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab, or my Motorola Atrix. I called Netflix and they said neither device is "netflix ready".

:(
