Root Never Received Froyo Update

1yoyo105

Newbie
I have an Ally with 2.6.29.6 kernal from getitnowmarketing and Velocity v0.4 but I never received the new Froyo update. Anyone know why? Is there anyway I can still get it?

sorry about the caps. now that it's enabled go to settings › about phone › check for update. may take a bit since you had OTA disabled

Having a custom recovery blocks all OTAs. You cannot get Froyo OTA as long as you're running a custom ROM or just a custom recovery. If you want root and 2.2 you need to follow Trident's guide. It works. I've done it.

Looks like thats what im going to have to do. THANKS!

I'm running velocity 4 & I received my OTA bkuz I turned it on. it didn't come as soon as I enabled it but it came nonetheless

no I haven't installed 2.2 yet I was waiting for the devs to root it, which they did, but it's to complicated. so I'll either stay with 2.1 using velocity 4 or just accept the unrooted OTA.

Except that you *cant* accept the OTA 2.2 while running Velocity or ANY custom ROM. The ONLY way to get OTAs to work is to be absolutely *bone* stock.

Okay now, I received the 2.1-update 1 OTA when I was rooted but the root wouldn't work then so I'm guessing that I don't have a root anymore. Am I supposed to get my update today or just sometime soon?
