DANG! Thats a lot of work! would recovering it to default work?OTA updates are blocked by default on velocity 0.4 see Trident's guide to froyo here: http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/263285-guide-froyo-2-2-1-root-users.html
"OTA: not found"terminal emulator : "su" then enter. then "OTA -e" enter should enable OTA
edit: never mind!!!! i thought ota was in capitals how you had it. it enables ota but not the update.Looks like thats what im going to have to do. THANKS!Having a custom recovery blocks all OTAs. You cannot get Froyo OTA as long as you're running a custom ROM or just a custom recovery. If you want root and 2.2 you need to follow Trident's guide. It works. I've done it.
did you install it? if so is it working fine?I'm running velocity 4 & I received my OTA bkuz I turned it on. it didn't come as soon as I enabled it but it came nonetheless
rooting your device voids your warranty and blocks you from receiving updates from lg meaning no 2.2.I rooted my Ally and then the root stopped working. I didn't get the OTA update today or anytime. I'm really annoyed by this.
no I haven't installed 2.2 yet I was waiting for the devs to root it, which they did, but it's to complicated. so I'll either stay with 2.1 using velocity 4 or just accept the unrooted OTA.
Okay well I had some kind of update between September 2010 and now.
